    should I buy it?

Went to a garage sale today and found a 4 piece silver tea set for $8.00. My wife thought I was nuts for wanting to buy it so I passed it up. Should I go back and buy it?

Meh...maybe if you can talk them down a few more bucks. At 2.00 a pound, you might do a little better than even if you can get them down to 4 or 5 bucks.

Remember, it's a garage sale, they're looking to get rid of stuff, not make money

All of this. We flip and resell yard sale finds all the time. Good money in it.

I also found a small 6 piece set of silver plated silverware. I'm going to clean it all up and post it on CL for a few weeks.

i buy old silver plated stuff all the time...i used to sell it to the junk yard for copper...now i get a little more than copper price per pound to a different guy...which works out great since he is interested in the silver content, i can also sell him the die cast stuff for good money.....of course i always check ebay first

Some people keep a stash of silver plated items as a decoy for would be thieves. If they stole that not as bad, as if they found your good stuff.
