Starting in January 1st of this year, I started to keep more accurate records of my scrapping. I do ewaste 99% of the time, so started to keep more detailed records of how many of certain items I bought, how many pounds of scrap I sold, what was sold as scrap vs. resale, etc.
I just added up all the results from Jan 1, 2014 to June 30, 2014, exactly a 6 month period:
Items bought/picked up:
Desktops 860 pieces
Laptops- 260 pieces
Servers 31 pieces
Parts, printers, monitors, etc are not counted.
I also buy quite of bit of parts that are already broken down such as motherboards, power supplies, etc.
Total weight of scrap sold 27, 408 lbs
The scrap sold breaks down as follows:
Steel(tin/shred) 12, 877 lbs
Boards, RAM, CPU (includes some hard drives, but not all) 4,974 lbs
Power supplies (I dont break down, get decent price plus simply not enough time) 3,020 lbs
Non-ferrous (aluminum, wire, copper, low grade breakage) 3,756 lbs
The difference is weight is due to some items I have sitting in the shop as inventory, maybe around 3,000 - 3,500 lbs.
For sales about 62% by value was scrap and 38% by value were re-sales of useable items.
Overall I am very happy with the outcome and profits, and it looks like the second half of the year will be just as good.
