Earlier this week I went to do a pickup of a flat screen TV and an older big CRT at a charge of just $10. I pulled up to a townhouse complex with 20 some kids running to and fro, every few garages had residents sitting in lawn chairs booze in hand, music playing in the background... overall just a hub of activity! I found the correct garage and met the gal who then pointed out the two TVS, and also had a pile of stuff to the side and she asked what out of it I would take. It was an old bench press bench, two barbells (50+pound each), 200+ pounds of weights that go on the barbell, some random wooden chairs, couple trophies, some wire, etc. The neighbor a couple garages down says "You scrappin?? Want this bedframe?" so I go load up the old white bedframe.... another neighbor comes hobbling out of their house carrying a big old busted up safe (100 some pounds). In the end I went to get a couple TVs and left with a full load! O.O Nothing more then 50-75 dolla, but it was a surprise!
Then today... starting some coffee and I see a washing machine sitting at the bottom of my neighbors walkway. I have yet to do any curb shopping, so I did not immediately go take it (it also looked pretty nice). Couple hours later it was still there so I knocked, they said its garbage, and I scooted that into my garage! I also let them know anything metal that was being thrown away can just get stuck in my driveway by the garage
They seemed surprised!
After a week or so of no scrap (not exactly SEARCHING) it was nice to get a week that filled the garage. This load combined with EIGHT large HVAC units and 4 toaster ovens from work will make with a good haul on the next day off
Just need a tap for the enclosed units and get the
freon out and that will be a mound of copper!
No real point to this... just felt like sharing my nice couple days! Oh! And those who read my thread on which truck to buy a few weeks back..... The ol 95 is going strong($1900 for 160k miles, AC, 4x4, lil rust)! No issues yet **knock on wood**
