    slow pay trend ?

I sell to several vendors depending on weather its copper, cores, e waste etc.

I have noticed a trend over the last 2 or 3 months that is a little disturbing and could be a danger sign.

when my receipts slow down it causes a slow down in pay all down the line.

Has any one else had this problem lately.

If this is a general trend over the entire market, it is not a good sign.

    Just curious.

    I have noticed it.
I will just make sure my company does not do it.

With our business we are having major issues with material not being presorted. what should take 30 minutes or an hour can take up to 3 hours. We get mixed boxes of cpus that may weigh up to 70 lbs. That isnt a quick ordeal. On top of that we have local drop offs which interrupt parcel processing.

Additionally we get freight shipments in that have had NO presorting done to them... as much as our suppliers have problems, we have them too and those issues trickle down the line to everyone.

We are working on rectifying these issues. Stay tuned.

That's what I get for holding on to my ram and cell phone boards . But the slot processors.will hopefully offset the shipping cost . I almost felt like I was bidding on a stone job when it came to adding up figures and deciding what items to send . It was mostly motherboards, finger cards, slot processors . With the baby arriving I figured I would free up some space and get a some $ to spend on diapers, formula and all that other fun stuff . My biggest asset currently has to be space to store . So I have starting to advertise locally .craigslist is a joke , no matter what I try to buy on there . My post gets flagged in less than a hour . So I'm going to buy a magnetic truck sign

I am improvising and adapting to my environment. I don't want to toot my own horn but here it goes . I don't need craigslist . I buy and sell video games, computers any metal anything electronic period . I travel and thanks to this forum I know when to charge and when to pay . Maybe being a new dad has changed the way I view life . I have always known it's a test and it's going to be hard . My frustration is taken out and I'm finally starting to understand life lessons . I will succeed no matter what , I will never go back to being complacent , saying oh I will do it Tom. I'm sorry for the thread jack but I don't get much time to sleep or post so like everything else from here on out . I am giving it my all !

Old dude let me say your the man , I swear whenever I see a server I think of you . End rant .
thanks for all your posts and life lessons , much appreciated .

This seems like FedEx's mistake. How far do you ship? I ship from MD to OH ground and that costs me about $.33-35 per lb of clean material.

Some time ago I heard something about FedEx changing their pricing policy but did not get any additional details except for that having something to do with size of boxes vs their weight. Does that ring a bell for anyone?

I don't think they are referring to your business. Last week I sent a box that got there on Monday and I was paid by Thursday. I don't see how anyone can complain about that. I've never had a slow turn around with you guys. You guys rock.

I have never had the smallest problem with your company. It is largely responsable for the success I have had to this point.

    slow pay trend ?

I have also noticed slowing of payment, to get paid on containers its about 3 weeks for me. For my area I feel its the clash of old school companies having to deal with a changing your market place. In general this area is about 10 years behind in technology. I personally feel like in 2014 a regular supplier could be paid as soon as his container goes across the scale. Its not rocket science and if I was bringing it in myself I would get paid on the spot.

I also can't complain because I get the containers for free, but I suppose that's why they take 3 weeks to pay lol.

In most business (not in the scrap game) the biggies drag payments out....90 days is not uncommon.

An outfit I worked for (a multinational) paid their little suppliers in 90+ days and their big suppliers got paid at whatever the supplier demanded---as short as 7 days, for guys like power companies who could just turn off the power if we dragged our feet in paying.

At the same time this same outfit beat on their customers to get paid in less than 30 days.

And all of the above isn't law, its just dog-eat-dog business--market forces.

So, getting paid on the spot or in a few days is pretty decent. The thing that hurts the most in having to wait is that it isn't due to market forces but the GOV'T that is screwing you with idiotic laws. Rest assured that your yard will find a way to drag that payment out if it can, by snail-mailing, by using an oddball bank, anything to delay payment even beyond whatever the law demands.

    Jon.
