lesson's learned as a scrapper and trash company

We all know the truth of scrap that its like money . Still lifting & loading - gas to the yard make it some thing more - - To some it's trash in there home .
The eager scrapper undercuts himself day in, day out as it's difficult to control one's mouth .

My trash Job :
On a normal pick up , at customer request I put in truck an extra 340 pounds trash for $20 fee . I always give the on the fly money to my boss .
Now these items were flotation dock Buoys & water logged . I had much more to pick up on my rout,so I took to dump .
I learned my lesson of the day , it cost $10 based on weight .
I mentioned to my boss of my discovery and he confirmed - YES !! - people will approach us all the time to take extra trash.
He said don't be bashful
$25 - $50 - $100 depending on weight , Were generally looking for 90% over the cost of dump fees otherwise business expenses are not covered .
I went back and asked for more money - - $25 to help a little with the percent (as the deal was done)
The customer paid after I explained my miscalculation



Turns out the feel of weight is fine-tuned with me , as I felt the dock Buoys were at-least 300 LB's . Now I use my scrap learned weight feel and the knowledge of $10 dump cost per 320 pound to create a 90% situation
& I see people pay to have you remove scrap particular if some is not scrap they just want it out .

My boss lets me keep scrap found on my rout . Often I'll trade him equal weight of bulk for his AL as all he does any way is put it all in a roll off.
Being a honest scrapper is ONE's first step
to a decent work ethic on any job.

Weight equals money - To or Fro - scrapping gave me a true advantage of negotiation speed at the blink of an eye .

what company do you work for? Mine makes you call them for an extra large load which costs $100.00 extra for that week. I've gotten tagged for ''too much'' before.

I was tired of the never ending price hikes and penalties from the trash services so I bought my own new 2 yarder. Now all they can charge for is to dump it once a month. Plus I get computer equip. from the same company. (stuff they retrieve from the back of the trucks)
