My neighbors are a bit older than I am, there daughter is actually older that me. She does computer graphic design work for a living. Neighbors know that I scrap electronics so they sent over her old monitor. Well it was a very nice model. A Dell 27" widescreen. They said it quit working and that her job had replaced it for her. I plugged in the AC adapter it came with and sure enough the screen was flickering pretty bad. I happened to notice that the wall adapter was 12V 750mA. I looked up the model and it says to use with a 12V 3.3A adapter and listed two different models. I searched
eBay and found a new one for $11. Plugged the baby in and it works perfect!!! I sold it 3 days later for $160 cash! Not too bad for "garbage".
Great example of scrap value vs. resale value I would say.
P.S. Its my guess that the original power supply died or got lost and they replaced with the one they sent it with and assumed monitor was shot too..
