    Relearning the biz

Scrapping for me has been slow progression . Many items I kept for a later date for dismantle .
Some times miscalculations like TV boards
that used to bring in Copper Bearing prices .
that now I have to toss with mix or get less for bringing to specialized metals area !!

Well now i see I have about 600 plus pounds of flat screen TV's . These are the older ones with weight from metal & AL, all screwed together some - 5 foot by 3 .There not some flimsy plastic Flats .When you pick one up you know it .
wile my yard has a no TV policy about TV's in general . The yard men seem to over look the big flats, I figure cause weight is real.

These units have been outside for 2 years or Longer?? under a tarp . For shear weight $60 to $70 if I tip scale to 700#
I am thinking that it's good enough . I know the boards are higher quality that Tube TV's but whats your take
The bunch I took apart in the past I don't have great memories of I consider them time consuming

I have found flat screen tvs worth it to break down, imo. They usually have at least one very high grade board, sometimes more depending on the size. Then you have the power board, with transformers and al heat sinks. Theres also another board that would go mid grade, sometimes 2. Tear one apart, see what you think, is it worth it to you?

One flat screen I got had I think almost 20 small transformers in it, about 4-5 pounds of transformers. Not much, but when you add it in with the pound or so of aluminum, boards etc it will all add up

    What LongHair said.

I do the same. I break down the flat screen's for the boards, an the huge chunk of metal used for the casing. Plastic just gets tossed, not enough there to notice a difference with it on or off far as the yard goes.

Flats are more of a pain tho then CRTs. All them **** screws!

the only annoying screws are around the casing, Which is what you need to get off to get at the really high grade board
