Lead Batteries Limit

I used to take in as many lead batteries as I could get my hands on in one shot. It has been a few months, but the yard I visit now limits the number of batteries to two in one day. I don't really understand why they placed the limit (although, I imagine it was a limit placed upon them by government). It doesn't seem to be a weight issue or size issue as the lead batteries I harvest the most are batteries from uninterruptible power supplies for computers I get from yard sales. I pay $1 for them and get the ICW cord, a really hefty copper coil, a lead battery, and a circuit board. I figure about $3-$4 an UPS.

my yard don't take batteries! so i sell mine to interstate batteries instead and its pretty close to the scrap yard location as well.
heck 2 batteries a day would not even be worth your time for! of course mine are car/truck batteries though.

This has been the law by me now foe about 6-8 months.

Mine doesnt limit batteries either. i get .25 like most folks. you figure they would much rather you recycle them than stick them in the landfill. I think i have taken in 1000# of those battery backup batteries in in the past 2 -3 months.

No limit here either and they went up from .22/lb to .25/lb. That stinks that they do that.

I'm gettin $0.23/lb and I only took in two last trip, so I don't know if we have a limit or not, will have to see if I ever get over two batteries to take in

No limit for me .28 a pound

They put a limit on them for thiefs i would say.Find a buyer to buy them from you and where are u located?

it's a lot to wonder about .I see for one thing the value of lead is better then ever .
Wile use of it continues to be curtailed .
It could indicate future skyrocketing lead prices
that now before the boom want it regulated
It would seem they might be looking to squeeze out scrappers from selling lead
and have companies that follow regulations selling lead . It's a bad sign and to me indicates a door
shutting on a metal of great value . 2 a day is just the start .

Perhaps it is a further squeeze on lead supplies.

.26/# here and no limit at the yard, but was told you can't legally carry more then 12 of them without a has-mat license

I think they are thinking "what if" in the case someone has a truck bed or box trailer full of batteries and they get into an accident

Florida law limits 2 a day regardless of size.
