I take in hundreds of lbs at a time. Never have had, any yard near me, put a limit on what can be brought in.
Trust me, I am with you man! I'd give an ElectroRant but I don't want to hijack the thread. Long story short, a sweet little lady who is a member of this forum, has a farm, and does e-waste on the side had the EPA called on her. I didn't want to get caught with my pants down and we were getting bigger, quickly so basically out of fear. I called them and had them come out and see what I was doing. The EPA is dangerous, they can shut your operation down in a heartbeat. They can cut through an LLC when the operation is small and they'll have you so covered up in fines and fees you won't know which way is up. A fine of 500,000 would bury us. We have a bond and insurance but I expect that when it came time to pay both would find a legal reason to not. That's just being realistic.
Fast forward 3-6 months and of course some money (it's always some money) and we have an EPA #. The process is not bad, it all starts with an application. A lot of red tape. Basically your stating your intentions with them. Are you smelting, constructing, producing, transporting, or storing hazardous waste? They want to know what your about. Personally the less info the gov has, the more comfortable I am with them, professionally it's a necessity.
