Wow. I havent' seen wire like that before. 'way different than the spiral armor I'm used to.

It looks like you have a hard plastic covering over some kind of steel wire armor? You said it just fell apart when you slit the plastic cover? Looks like it might be well worth your time to strip it to bare copper, unless you can come to a deal with a scrap outfit once you know the recovery.

    Jon.

Hi , Ive done my wieghts I started with 2.6kg the first strip left
me with 1.3kg the final strip left me with 1.2 kg .roughly 47% good stuff.lm really happy with that. This certainly is going to take some time, but will surely be worth the effort. Just to let you know the 2 inche wire had 4 heavey wires and 1 bare thin earth wire.Just goes to prove one man rubbish can be anouther mans riches. Thanks every one for your help and assistance with this.

All this copper wirer is a windfall . If it was me and I could manage with out using some of the moneys for life expenses , this might be a good chance to purchase some silver or gold or some other kinda investment ,

Just known as armoured cable in the UK - The biggest i came across was 5 inches in diameter - Stripped with a snap-off 'razor' knife.
Sadly it was whey long ago when 'bright copper' was £900 a tonne ($1500 or so) -

Think it came in at about £500 - now would be near £2000 - Still not bad for half a days toil.

British - If i knew then what i know now - would never have learnt anything or had so much fun
