    Electric Dryer

I got a call off the internet from a person who wanted to drop off a dryer.
I said "Sure, bring it on in!"
He brought me a nice front loading electric dryer that wouldn't heat
I KNOW I could have fixed it and sold it for more, but I popped it into my van, drove about 800 feet to the used appliance store, and sold it to him for $40.00
He will fix it and sell it for more. I got instant cash.
    Everybody is happy!

Nothing wrong with a fast turn and money in the pocket. It gets back to the discussions on just how much breaking down of material makes sense. It is entirely up to the individual.
I break down far less than I used to because I need to spend my time doing more productive things. For me more productive can mean just taking a break or a nap. Mike

You have to keep the nap quota up.

Nice, quick cash and you'd never have been able to get that much for scrapping it.

Yep just not worth it unless you have some kind of specialty in this case if you had worked on appliances regularly in the past. I sell all my appliances working or non-working for $25-$100 to guys that fix them, test them, clean them and then sell them. My job is to get stuff and turn a profit not to sell to the end user. I sell appliances full price every now and then but, only when it is convenient. Testing, cleaning, and then selling takes a lot of time. Better to sell to the same guys and have an instance buyer.

Wow Im surprised you got $40 for a broken electric drier. I can barely sell a working electric drier for that much. Around here everyone wants gas.

    You made the right decision

It probably had a Aluminium winding motor in it and selling it like you did saved you from wasting time finding that out.
Along with a the potential cuts bruises scrapes and hassle doing it.

Basicly, if you can turn it over that quick, not waste energy, and get that much actual physical hard ca$h in your pocket..

Then you are way way ahead in the game. Winna!!!!!!!

I fully agree. Even if the dryer DID have a more desirable motor; The time, and effort involved in breaking it down, would've exceeded the $40 in less than 5 minutes you received. GOOD JOB!

If you can get them in, and simply do that more often (Think 10-20 appliances per week) it'd be good cash money and no real input from you.

Thus saving you money and gaining more time to put to use scrapping other stuff.

It was a front loader in nice condition. The cool part is the used appliance store is in the same parking lot as my shop! Bring on the appliances!

Love the quick turn. Too bad you had to load it in the van. Call and have them come down with a dolly next time.
