Everyone in Metro Detroit - Saddle up!

Due to the recent flooding in the Madison Heights area, there are literally piles upon piles of trash outside nearly every house. I should have gotten pics but I didn't. I drove down one street and was overwhelmed with the amount of scrap: Shelves, microwaves, washers, driers, fridges, hot water tanks, treadmills, stationary bikes,you name it. I would have needed to stop at nearly every house, there was just way to much. I decided to go for just appliances, computer towers, batteries, air conditioners, and dehumidifiers.

After about 3 and a half hours:
7 full sized fridges
4 mini fridges
3 washers
3 driers
2 hot water tanks
1 huge industrial hot water tank
4 dehumidifiers
2 computer towers
a coil of copper line


But I'm not over exaggerating when I say that what I got is only about 1/4 of what is still out there, if that. Towards the end, I passed up another washer, a deep freezer, and a mini fridge. Because I didn't have room to store any more. Looking back, I really should have been grabbing the treadmills. I recall seeing at least 5 of them and they weigh a decent amount. Also box fans and vacuums, probably passed about 30 of each total.

I have pics that will be posted soon. If anyone else decides to go picking over in the area, be careful; a permit is required in Royal Oak, I had been pulled over for this a year ago. Also, cities such as Huntington Woods and Berkley are cracking down on scrapping all together. I snaked through these cities and saw even more scrap, but cops everywhere. Not worth it.

Been down that road in the past .For certain in a day or so once the law catches up with situation's
it will be a crime to take scrap with out permission
Empathy for people is needed . This is not a Roman holiday
Hook up with a plumber they need help

Yeah I definitely couldn't help but feel bad for the people involved. The amount of trash is astronomical. Some areas were so bad that 2 or 3 houses can fill a garbage truck.
