I use a 55 gallon barrel for loose shred like screws, bolts, litte loose metal and anything that doesn't leave air pockets, it's 90% full and weighs around 350-400lbs. When I fill it I will dolly it up into a trailer, and push it into a bin at the yard. It's worth it, but depending on how much you are paying for it. They often store chemicals In them so clean them out, talk to local landscapers also, they sometimes use them to store there fertilizer or when they make there own. Mine was free, I forgot how I got it but good luck

Car washes are good places to get 55 gallon plastic barrels. Thats how they get soap shipped to them. I pay 5 bucks each so it covers their deposit on them.
We like to use the plastic ones for multiple reasons.
1-Less chance to slice your hand open (Been there done that)
2-Weight less.
3-I get ancy with the steel ones and scrap them. (Also sell them for $10 for burn barrels)

Hey Y'all, thank you so much for the quick answers and I am looking for them as we are speaking, tomorrow I am going out to a couple of automotive shops to see if I can set up a drum in their shop and I am also going to hit up a thrift store that is near by my house, that is only a start of it for right now.

I saw about 300 of these with lids and a hole cut out on the top for can recycling outside of the stadium. A company had wrapped a logo around them seems like they could make a pretty penny if they are in the correct location . I.e. Stadiums, parks , auto shops , crack dens and bus stops .
Buying ewaste and video games !

Well that's one I've yet to see in a "where to find scrap" type post: a Crack Den. LOL
If your on a sandbar like me, or near the coast, or a body of water people go party/camp/play at...Beach Accesses, or whatever your area calls them are also great places for such barrels.
It makes me sad when I go to the town south of me. They have their own recycle barrels for cans an the like, an man do they do good on them. Thankfully my town could careless so I can take all the cans I want from the regular trashcans.(Yes I asked, an was told.."go for it! Less to fall on the ground!".)

I got a few plastic drums off Craigslist. Vanilla extract was shipped in them. Makes the shop smell nice.

Thank you so much on where I can set them up, those location are great, but as long no one has beat me to it, but I am willing to try it out and I really hope that I can turn things around and start to make a profit.
