Are these gold connectors? I searched through the forums but wasn't able to find the answer, I may have missed it though:/

Once I got lucky and was able to get dirty brass for them, but now when they are cut, into a coffee can with steel they go...
longhairboy---is this the same one from NB-CAN?? If so, imagine meeting you here (NPCfed)!!
Typical RCA connectors don't have gold internally. However, some RCA jacks are gold and you'll know when you see one. The plug in part is all gold as well as the outer shell. The female side is all gold on the outside also.
My son has an upgraded cable for his xbox that has gold on both ends and I found some jacks on car audio amps yesterday that were gold.
When I get these, I'm saving them as "better than gold connectors" because they are plated all over. I don't have enough to ask a buyer about them yet but you could toss them in your gold connectors if you wanted.
There is a post on this somewhere Longhair. I can't blame you for not finding it tho, I think it was in a thread I made, an no clue as to what I used to describe them.
Pnut answered the rest better then I could.

when i find the real heavy rca cables with the real pretty shiny gold ends,,,i always keep them,,,i eventually sell them at my local flea market,,,,use them,,,,or ebay them....i just found a new computer repair shop that is buying all kinds of cables off of me....i dont think he is going to last long,,,,but if he does i may even start buying cables from folks....
there are just too many used pc stores in this area....they never last long ,,at least it seems that way
I get them from my thrift stores all the time. I've even told them they could resell them, but they don't want to deal with'm. I'm cool with that!
The Gameing ones bring good money, even sold on CL.
I throw them on Cl if they don't sell in a reasonable amount of time, the ends get clipped an put in the "omg god it's gold!™" bucket.

Okay I think I know what you mean by the gold plated ones, I have a few of those, those aren't brass on the outside, its gold? I couldn't imagine it being gold, I assumed brass
Oh yeah they're gold plated. It's really not much and totally a marketing gimmick. The retail markup on cables is INSANE. Definitely worth throwing in with your gold connectors.
"Don't try to be a great man, just be a man. Let history make its own judgments"
Yup it's really gold as Matty an the rest of us have said.
it's not very thick plating but it's gold. Those cables can run anywhere from 12 bucks on up to 40 or so depending on what it's for, length, etc.
An Gold plugs into gold. If your going to do a lot of ewaste become familiar with that. For example if you look at the ones for a HD tv, if you look where it goes in on one, you'll see gold inside it. Again not a lot, but it's gold. Same with computers.
This is why you need a "OMG IT"S GOLD!™" bucket. Fill it up then decide what you'll do with it. Some like me save the contents for refining, others save up then sell to another, etc, etc.
Sirscrapalot - Gold like pride, makes people do some really stupid things.
Take a pencil eraser to those jacks. If it rubs off it is flash plaing and not really worth it to save. Most of it will be lost during refining. I have found soundblaster cards where the jacks are nicely plated as well as the nuts on the backside of the bracket. Also some tv cards that let you watch tv on a computer have this as well.

An...give me a holler one these days! Been a bit.
Sirscrapalot - Still look for someone who buys a Brasscatcher, slightly used, an kinda old.
its funny cause I get in so many rca cables I have a Gaylord dedicated to them that is about a foot higher overflowing all the time. I sell them on ebay for better sets but at home there 25cents each and the rest of the overflow goes as crap wire 17clb. gold ends I will save on good ones that I don't sell though which is nice filling a 55gal plastic barrel lol only 2 so far cause it takes awhile lol that what my omg its gold bucket has turned into is a few different barrels that way I can sit them outside not taking up room and can survive weather lol
