Washing Machine - Plastic Tub thing

I currently have 15+ washers/dryers from two different locations in my garage. It looks like a laundromat

Generally I will take out the Basin (the spiny barrel) part, pull the wires, hit the cement brick with a sledgehammer, grab any cast aluminum, and throw the basin back in and throw it all in the truck as shred. Ez Peeze.. like 5 minutes per machine.

Well... I got this odd type from the apartments and I have like 8 of them with PLASTIC Basin parts...It appears each one has about 1 gallon of water within a top ring of the basin in addition to the small cement brick. I still smash the brick, get my cords, grab aluminum. I just take the sawzzle and cut the top rim and the water easily drains.

I called my normal yard and they said they do a 20 pound deduction per unit if its not opened with the brick removed (opened as in one side off so they can the the brick gone). I dont want a 20 pnd deduction per unit.

    My question is this...
Do you think the yard will still accept these plastic basin parts? I have the washing machine shell sitting there, then I put the big plastic thing back in it, and throw the sides in there as well. My worry is when I get to the yard and throw one out of the back of the truck the plastic basin will just come rolling out of the shell and will just be a big chunk of plain plastic. OVERALL my load is like 90% metal, but INDIVIDUALLY those pieces only have a small bit of metal on the bottom. Especially if I am throwing 10 of them out at a time.

Think I will be fine? Anyone know if its generally a PER LOAD metal content, or does each piece have to contain that much metal.

    Thanks for readin!

Each yard is different but my yard would take 90/10 in a heartbeat.

would they take it if there were individual pieces of plastic weighing 10+ pounds per with just tiny bits of metal on it?

I notice your MN recycler. Im in the Metro area of Minneapolis/St. Paul... You in the area here? If so, what yard do ya use?

My yard takes it all. If they take "appliances" then they should take the whole appliance - concrete plastic whatever

    So this is what happened...
I had the big old crane magnet things unload my trailer/truck today. Just as I thought, it picked up a machine and our falls a big white chunk of plastic and the foreman guy is standing right next to me watching as well. No one said a thing. The crane operator just picked up another hunk of metal and strategically pushed the plastic out with that piece and kept going. Worryin for no reason! Haha

I'm always amazed at how much non-metal they will accept. Gotta wonder what their actual net, $$$ and metal content, they get after the shredder sorts it out.

Doesn't your yard take the machines with the brick still in it? Mine is taking them complete.

There are 10+ yards within the cities here and there are a few that I know will take the machine whole. BUT I go to the yard I do because the people I have encountered are kind, explain to me what the materials are, and have given me numerous tips on how to increase my profit and also what not to spend time on. So even if they are paying a few cents less I still like to go there. BUT BUT BUT! My yard does a TWENTY POUND deduction per machine of the brick is not removed! For this last load that would have meant a 200 pound deduction

The flip side to ask is "would I get a little more per lb if I dispose of the plastic tubs before I bring the stuff in?

If they know you and already know that you are thorough enough to smash the concrete out of it....well, maybe..

Mine takes 75% metal and pay shred for it, so I don't bother pulling cushions off chairs of they are secured on, I leave backboards on basketball hoops, and best of all I can throw plastic printers in there

Ok.. I must be hunting a different kind of machine. I have never had one with a slug of concrete in it..Not in 20 years. Are these all the newer "Front Loader Models?" Because I've never scrapped one of those.

This batch is indeed all front load. BUT, from my experience they have ALL had the cement brick in them. I did 12ish top loads and they had larger bricks than these ones do. I dont mind the bricks though =D They just made the walls of my compost garden and fire pit higher.

These newer HE front loads have a smaller brick but also have a gallon or so of water around the top rim.

I think I may have messed up this last load. Im just now seeing there are prices for "White Goods" that is higher than shred. Are "white goods" the whole appliance or is it just the white metal siding from them.

OH! AND in the first batch or 8 the only change I found was one RUPEE! LAMEEEE

I see cement blocks in almost all new front load machines but rarely in old machines...and I've done hundreds.
