old 5 foot lamp had over 12 pounds of cast aluminum in the base and cap...

i thought it was brass at first but I put a file to it and i'm pretty sure it's cast aluminum...so that's 7.20 right there, plus it had a good light bulb, about 3 pounds of steel on the stand, and don't forget the number 2 wire power cord...I'ma get some money for this.

Nice gotta love those lamps , the brass ones are the best . Once you break a few down and figure weights and values , you can find out what you can pay for them down the road. Also check with your yard because . That might actually be die cast and alot of yards pay different prices for die cast and cast aluminum . Some pay different , less for diecast. Some pay the same.

i've noticed in most goodwill type stores the brass lamps are actually priced at about scrap value...i usually pick up one of the bathroom scales they have for sale and go around weighing stuff.

What looks like brass may be diecast most of the time. Plus look at for sand , wood, ferrous plates in bottom.

I am thinking the base looks like pot metal. If it turns out to be AL, let me know. I am letting my ai go to pot.

they bought it as aluminum. today's totals were 860 pounds of steel, 52 pounds of batteries, 9 pounds of copper, 20 pounds of copper wire no.2, 10 pounds of cans, 13 pounds of cast aluminum, 2 pounds of brass, and 3 pounds of plumbing brass. I have several hundred pounds more of steel so I was disappointed to see I only put 860 in the truck bed, I like to take around 1000 to 1100 at a time. anyways, the streets are calling me.

be careful if its a good base esp brass can go for $60 plus a whole working lamp vintage or not made of heavy duty material can go for $150plus
