old singer sewing machines

so tonight my parents are watching our neighbor/close friends daughter while they are at a football game , so the TVS hijacked. I have had this old singer sewing machine that I have had in my office for over a month , Ive been meaning to part it out and sell the parts on ebay. so I take a crack at it . there are so many little screws and variations of them . so I cant get any of these parts out after trying for over 30 mins . I stopped and am tempted to sell it as dirty aluminum since the body is cast aluminum. on type of this I just get a message from an ebay buyer claiming the VCR I sold them does not work. It was Working when I sent it hmmm.

looked didn't see any sold listings . and I know just because there is no sold listings doesn't mean it wont but who knows. Been doing very well on appliance parts on ebay though.

I had one like that and into the dirty alum it went! Who knows what it came back as! Would have liked to sell it for more but it's life was spent!

yes I know the feeling especially with the price drop prices are closer together I am turning stuff over faster and not cleaning as much . I have quite an inventory for ebay though

Try an throw it up on your local cl, contact sewing groups or stores that cater to that kind of customer. One big name is Joann Fabrics lots of stores here in the east. I'd try an contact them to see if any one is interested. They usually know a lot of folks in the sewing industry from buyers, sellers, to collectors. Check your local ones to they likely have a sewing/knitting group, etc.

If your willing to sit on it for eBay, be willing to sit on it for other avenues. Just cause something isn't sold on eBay doesn't mean it's worthless. Don't mean it's worth something either, you get the poin I hope.(general you) Doesn't take much to call around or visit these stores. Hell you just might make a client while your out researching/networking.

Good luck in saving from the yard. Shame to see older models go the way of the yard.

Does half of the base hinge and flip up in front of the needle carrier? If it does it could be a 221 featherweight like Brandon suggested. That's one I certainly wouldn't tear apart because they sell easily.

If it's not a featherweight, it's probably one of those 70's machines that aren't too sought after.
