Learned a new "cheat code" for stripping electric tape off the stranded cu wire/tvs

so I've done about 100 TV's and computer monitors this summer...and I've been isolating that run of stranded copper wire that runs around the perimeter of the tube...and stripping them with a box knife infront of the tv...doing 5 or so at a time...well today I had a great idea...

cut that wire loop in half and strip a couple inches off of one end. Then grab one of the copper conductors and if the tv is old enough or the electrical tape is dry enough, you can pull that one strand all the way down the wire run and it will slit the electrical tape in about two seconds. Shizam!

I did a few this way today, but noticed it didn't work very well on aluminum wire coated with green enamel, the aluminum wire kept breaking.

I pull mine out of dumpsters normally...so when i'm done with them I just find another dumpster that I take something from and just carefully set one down in there (don't wanna make too much noise and get the dopenscrapple lynch mob too riled up.) It could probably come back on me if I somehow got caught and the management wanted to press charges for trespassing and illegal dumping...but it's unlikely if you spread them out...don't throw them in a full dumpster...do it at night and do so quietly. I figure I'm already trespassing, stealing trash, and breaking Kansas Dumpster Diving Laws, so as long as those TV's were destined for the landfill, I'm not creating any new harm, and I'm actually doing a small amount of good by recycling the metals.

That's what I do...i'm constantly being harassed by the police though...I already got much bigger problems...so I kind of have to be a law unto myself, and as long as i'm not hurting anyone, I can live with a few victimless crimes...

I have been thinking though about putting a tarp down and shattering the tube glass completely, scrapping the frame, recycling the plastic, and then storing up the leaded glass until I got heavy weight and then doing a dump run...I've also been thinking that I could somehow repurpose the tubes and use them in a bombshelter, since the leaded glass should stop radiation and microwaves...

So you'd use the old tubes in a similar fashion to a tinfoil hat? To stop those annoying mind control rays?

    basically...but it's a fact that radiation cannot penetrate lead...that's why it's used in TV's and x-ray equipment...

now whether or not radiation or microwave "directed energy weapons" can, have, are, and will be used against the people of this world is a whole other thing.

Dont think the swat team comes to a house for illegal scrapping. Especially if you haven't listed your address. If anyone ratted you out you did that yourself by admitting you may be breaking laws in your area. Looks and sounds as if the first four letters of your name may have something to do with your problems.

Lol at least this guy is entertaining, I don't even care if he's breaking the rules. He's right in some ways, victimless crime and all, but I'm surprised he hasn't caught on to the general feel of this forum. As long as he's not littering, breaking things on other people's curbs, taking advantage of the scrap yards, then I think he's ok. Dumpster diving shouldn't be illegal, if you find it in a dumpster then it's not all that bad putting it back in a dumpster, furthermore some states still allow you to put tvs out for trash pick-up. Something needs to be done with them. The only wrong here is that he's filling someone's dumpster with a tv he found in someone else's dumpster, and people pay for trash services.

    I think you are ok...

    Kansas Laws Governing Electronics Disposal
As of November 2010, Kansas does not have laws regulating recycling or disposal of electronic waste.

As of November 2010, Kansas is among 27 U.S. states that do not have laws governing disposal or recycling of used, discarded electronic equipment, often referred to as E-waste, such as computers, televisions and cell phones.

Don't ban him, he's the funniest person on this forum, if nothing else he's an example of what not to do. For the most part he's not hurting anyone, he's just hustling. How will he learn the right way to do things? He clearly likes this forum, and possibly respects some of it's members judging by the amount he post here.

I wish him luck as well and he is funny. Just be careful about posting something that may be in the grey area when it comes to scrapping. I do know that forums like these are watched and monitored by big brother. This forum is not as tightly moderated as another I am on and I hope it never gets to that point.

Yeah if I do a little time, I'm still all good...but please, please don't ban me from these forums. I have nothing but respect for the site and all of its posters. I'm a little bit "different" and sometimes it takes time to get used to my sense of humor. I try not be vulgar or obscene nor offend or upset anyone. Sometimes my sense of humor is geared towards pushing an envelope on a taboo subject, just for the shock value and novelty.

But yeah, that avatar was a mugshot lol, but the dopen in dopenscrapple is just German for Dope, which is actually the name of the city I was born in and spent the first 10 years of my life. I'm well aware of the fact that dope is American slang for drugs, I've only heard a million jokes about it.
