Moving into a new home with a scrap load

I'm in the process of moving into my first house, finally stretched my wings and left the nest! In addition to all my actual stuff, I had a back yard full of a load of crap...errmm...Scrap, that had been accumulating for a couple months. Excluding the ferrous piles, nothing was really ready to turn in (some things I still need to find a buyer for).

Has anyone tackled this obstacle before? All my neighbors know what I am up to now. That, or they think I'm a hoarder. I had about four trailer loads that looked like the one in this picture.



I've moved several times in my life ready, once across the country (Boston ---> Phoenix) and let me say that this made the move so much more work than I had anticipated.

Who else has had to relocate their entire operation befoee?

Poor planning man. You should have sold off the steel and broken down everything possible in the time leading up to the move. I also plan on moving next year. So the only things I'm hoarding are ram, cpus, and copper. Everything else is getting scrapped. You're losing money by taking extra trips for your scrap, the margins are already pretty tight. As for your neighbors, let them think what they want, as long as you keep your property respectable it's none of their business.

In the same boat as you. Bought a new place and lease is running out on other. Have a garage full

i bet your new neighbors aren't going to like you much.

Did you look into the city / town ordinances ?
Did you look to make sure your new city / town does not employ enforcement officers ?
Did you look into your new city / town's legal department to make sure they are not ### ####s toward property owners ?

In my area, if you have anything in your backyard deemed "unsightly" you can get fined up to $125 per day - and they do enforce it.

I am in the same city so I am all set. Benefit, no HOA here as the last house had, and I never had an issue there. I keep it all behind the walls and out of site.

Poor planning? Agreed, for the entire move not just the scrap. It's been terrible.
