Sure... Go ahead, cut it open... Why not? ... It'll be fun... Everything is fun with power tools... And remember to have adult supervision... Don't hurt yourself kid!
Depending on type of "boiler" can't tell, no pics, it could spill its copper guts quite easily.
Yes cut it open, this is a great way to learn. Plus call your yard regarding tanks, some require you to cut a hole in (about 12x12) or even in half so they can see its not loaded with brick.

Nice score, I wouldn't bother cutting it up if it's like a normal hot water heater but pull the brass connections off and throw the rest in shred. But if it has goodies in it I would cut it open. Wear a mask and gloves, insides are nasty

You don't have to cut open the ones I've dealt with you use a 5/16" socket to take the exterior panel off. However you may need to use a grinder or hammer to get the cast iron ends of of the copper.

It might just be the tub out of one of the really old 'Coppers'.
You know the sort of thing my Grandmother and her Grandmother used to get fired up on a Sunday and boil the water to wash the weeks dirty clothes in.
