A case of "THE MONDAY, S" all darn week

Does anyone else suffer from this disease. It's like. I have no motivation to do anything. I have tons of loose scrap in the basement that needs to be broken down further....about 200 lbs of lead. ..Also a whole room full of copper . Pipes.fittings.AC units . fridges. Ect. Ect. .... I just have so much trouble actually getting my boots on any working. Does anyone else feel this way? I can't do coffee it's just not my cup of tea (no play on words intended.
So can someone gimme advice on getting back on the grind.... Maybe it's winter coming... I really do believe in seasonal depression ..

    Anyone? Any insight. .

    Thank you

You may do coffee if your not making any money. But.... That's just me since I drink like 10 cups a day. Put a tv in your garage, watch a movie and scrap. Good luck

Oh yeah, I know how you feel. I don't have that problem scrapping but I do sometimes with my full time job. Sometimes I just have to get up off my arse and do what needs to be done.

    Three words...a good night's sleep. Ok so..4.

Ignore the coffee, energy in a bottle(the crash sucks for both) an figure out what motivates you. An then get motivated.

I love all the answers with the exception of one so far have been to rely on a stimulant...an regardless of it being legal, it's still a stimulant an it's still one of the more addictive things out there.

Down with coffee an people having to rely on it. Don't do coffee an never will, an it certainly doesn't affect my profit margin other then what I save by not drinking it.

So..figure out of cash motivates you, if it doesn't an you find nothing else that does, suck it up an let it sit till spring, just don't come to us complaining you ain't got no funds, cause you do..sitting there waiting to be prepped.

Down with coffee, down with coffee shops, long live sleep an rest!

I think I actually threw up a little bit 37 seconds into the first video but I remember the second video. Funny stuff.

The act of completing tasks for reward no matter how large or small should be the motivator.
Your looking at the big picture (tons of scrap)...start small.

Coffee.... Haters gonna Hate, I like a cup in the morning

if i lived near you, id come help u get rid of some of your scrap, esp the copper.

    seriously though
just set goals for the day-nothing crazy

tell urself that today i will strip this & that
and u make sure u do at least that much.

another idea is to get an assistant-
sometimes i also feel demotivated & having someone help u does make thing go faster which make u feel better that its not a hopeless situation.

I'm staging a intervention for Hypo an NH for their coffee addiction.

Edit: Sorry forgot this part. You know the on topic part of it. What MS said, could work also, the part about setting goals. Get the stuff into it's proper piles if it's not already an then pick a pile an break it down/prep it. I do it when I got a bunch of CD/DVD roms, Power Supplies, etc.

    I love coffee.

But back to the original post... I sometimes have problems getting started. About the best way I've found to combat that is to make a decision on what I want to get done tomorrow. I do this at the end of the day just before I quit. Then when I get started the next day I already have a list in my head and don't have to think about it, just dig in. Whether I accomplish that list or not isn't important. What's important is that work got done.

I really like this idea. I have found many times, when I am in slowmo, having someone to work with really picks me up. We sort of feed off of each other's energy. Then when I alone again, I just keep going because getting going is much harder than keeping going (inertia). I would invite a friend over to "play with the metal" and when he leaves in an hour, I bet you just keep going.

So why are we talking about coffee?

I have the same issue on Mondays. I don't hit my stride til about Thursday, then on Friday I feel like I'm going full bore and wish Saturday was a work day!!!

I'm weird tho, most people sluff off on Friday.

I had a 'monday' yesterday on Wednesday, get to the scrapyard area today to find they are cleaning it out.
I figured they would have removed all the scrap on Tuesday, so I no idea of what I missed out on.

Me, I need coffeee in the morning, only in the morning though. I did a 'no caffiene' experiment years ago to find out that coffee in the afternoon to wake me up is only needed because I drunk coffee yesterday afternoon and that's what stopped me from getting a good nights sleep.....

I like to make my first coffee, grab a small knife and start cutting out the flatpack IC's from circuit boards.
That gets me interested and is a good start to the day.

Dayvirus you need some serious motivators! Coffee and energy drinks only get you so far. I use to be the same way and would lag doing work. I moved out of my garage into a small storage unit. Rent became a serious motivation idea to me and now I am making triple than what I was pulling in a year ago. I am always worried about rent, getting projects completed and making money!

Everyone can agree with me that there is going to be a corner in the workshop that is continually pushed off until another day. We all have one or two projects that are dreadful. good luck and get going!

I think the scientists call it seasonal affective disorder.

In my "opinion" there's nothing wrong with you. It's supposed to be this way. Lower light conditions this time of year are telling your body that it's getting near time to go into winter hibernation. You're energy level is dropping to conserve calories during a time of year when, historically, there would have little or no food available in the natural world.

There's a fair chance that this is all biological.

Folks in our part of the country with fair skin tend to have lower Magnesium levels. Take a run down to CVS and pick up a Magnesium supplement. Try it for a few days and see if you don't start to feel better. D vitamins are made when the sunlight hits your skin. The D vitamin supplements help during low light conditions. B vitamins can help too.

~ It takes a little bit of experimentation to figure out what you're lacking but if you hit the right one you'll feel it. Your energy level will come back up and you'll naturally be more interested in doing things. ~

The other thing that is likely to work is changing the lighting in your shop. Get some bulbs that replicate natural sunlight. I found that i could go 10 - 12 hrs a day in the shop during the dead of winter after the change over a few years ago.
