Cool Freebies and enough washers and dryers to open a laundrymat...

Monday night, I hit a trash area, not finding much but a ceiling fan and maybe 10 pounds of galvanized steel HVAC ducting. Then round the bend on one of my last streets before going home... There on the sidewalk is two washers, a dryer and two hot water tanks! I load up the washers and dryers and one tank and head to a relatives house, because I can't store that much at my house and didn't want to tie up the bed of the truck and something great come up. Go back, figuring the other tank would be gone and low and behold the other scrappers must not handle cold weather cause it is still there. Twas a good night.

Then Thursday night is trash night in my neighborhood. Didn't find much, TiVo box and yet another washer was the highlights. But on the way home from work that evening I spy with my little eyes something TV like. Stopped and there was a 19 inch flat screen LCD tv, chord still attached! (That is SO rare in my area that alone shocked me). As I pick it up I notice the remote is setting about a yard away on the other side of the trash pile. I grab both and go home. I think, I'm sure some part of it doesn't work but plugged it in and it came on. So far so good, has a built in dvd player so I pop in a dvd. Plays like a champ, so far so good. Found batteries for the remote and it works as well. So I go into the play room (wife babysits kids), and hook into cable and every part of the tv works great. I'm excited because we were needing a tv for that room since the old tube tv lost picture and sound about a month back. I grab the cable remote to program it to this tv, press the power button to start programming, and the tv shuts off... I press it again and it turns on, and the channel and volume buttons work as well! Must have had a Sylvania tv in the house before cause the cable remote was already set up for this tv, even though it went from tube to flat screen.

So I reckon it was suppose to happen me finding that tv. The wife is very happy with all the working presents I'm bringing home, she got a MSRP $200 vaccum cleaner the other day, which we needed as well since all we had was a small dirt devil hand vac with a long handle for floor cleaning, out of the trash that looks and works like new. Also pulled a very nice vanity with drawer and mirror for her three weeks back, that after cleaning the mirror looked like new and that went over well as well. Scrapping is being good to me, keeping the wife happy and only paying gas money for these items. My wife is fine with my scrapping, she goes with me on trash nights most times and loves how many power wheels and other kids toys get thrown out. She just got a new looking high chair that converts into rocking chair on trash night last week. She helps me load big items and is just a wonderful woman that I'm very thankful to God that she is in my life.

So that's my scrapping week. Hope it was a good read, cause I had a blast living it.

Sounds like Someone is looking out for you! Maybe the tv got thrown over some sort of relationship quarrel. It wouldn't the first time a perfectly good thing gets thrown away because someone is mad...
