    Mischievous Adventures of JnJ Junk

Hopefully This will be an ongoing thread. As some of you know. Me and my neighbor run a VERY small scrap metal bussiness. For being in high school it fills up the pig (GMC 2500hd RCLB 8MPG and some extra. Lately we have been having some issues with the partner ship. Discussed in another thread. Lets just say we have some work distribution issues. Anyways I have been working on my truck and looking into getting my own trailer. We mainly deal with auctions and Curbco, We also repair Tractors Mowers and such to sell. No EScrap maybe in the future.

First time we hauled with my truck. Didn't even have my license yet so I couldn't drive. Desks out of a elementary school and two pallets full of florescent lights.

nice haul. those lights might be resale items. if not, there is some nice wire and the ballasts should sell for around electric motor price if they say no pcb on them.
Currently looking for a job in or related to scrap/recycling. Relocation is possible for the right offer.

Yea we broke down the lights. Never thought about resale. Usually we pick up a pallet for anywhere below 20 dollars

Ended up buying 7 push lawnmowers and a old Sears Rider for $50 at the auction. Broke them down to heavy Breakage and cast from the heads and ended up making about 70 dollars total so 20 dollars in profit minus the labor. Wasn't my best buy but was glad to see we did not loose money. Sorry about the dark pictures. It was 6 A.M. Had to go make a delivery.

Could someone help me figure out what these boards are. They are all out of 3 computers. Right now I have the CPU's seperate, Motherboards, and Finger boards. Not sure what these are. Just getting into EWaste. Probably should go into the Ewaste section

Also are these things considered Tantalum capacitors?

    And these yellow ones?

    THANKS GUYS!

Very first picture, top left board looks like a CD-rom board to me, and the one right below it is a slot processor. Not sure on the rest

EDIT: Possibly, could you flip them over so we could see the other sides? I think the two longer boards might be CD-rom boards too, the middlish board with gold pins is a hard drive board, at least It looks like one to me. I could be way off on all of what I said

In the first photo, the bottom right item is an older style laptop wireless card. To the left of that is a hard drive board. Above both of those is a CD Drive board.

In the top left of the same picture is another CD Drive board, and below that, a Slot CPU.

In the bottom left of the second photo, that's also a CD Drive board.

    Hope this helps!

It does. I know that I should seperate the CD and DVD boards, what should I do with the wireless board?

As for the tantalum, I don't think so, look for the mustard colored ones and they should also have a "k" and or a "+" sign. That's about as much as I know on them. Its not that easy to see, but it is there.

There is a "tant" thread that is on going, check it out, the guys are really helpful, that and a couple of the old guard are doing the tant thing so they should be able to point you in the right direction as well.
If it's not bolted down it's mine, if it's bolted down and I can pry it up.....it's still mine....

If I'm thinking correctly, wireless cards have a gold finger on them, so they could go in with finger boards?

Thats what I thought. So if they have those gold fingers off the sides they are all finger boards Unless they are large telecom or the sort?

Just packaged up my first Ewaste shipment. Just about 60 pounds. 27 pounds of motherboards 11 pounds of finger cards, and the other twenty pounds was just other miscellaneous stuff. Can't wait to get my check and see of I did on my sorting
