    Not 1. but 2!! Pentium Pro CPU's

Went to a pickup today. Wasn't really sure what they had. But anyways I get there and they have all kinds of stuff/scrap/junk everywhere. They are also acting a lil funny maybe drugs I dunno. Anyways I left with 2 towers 2 Xbox 360s aswell as an original Xbox and some cable boxes. A real differing load. But small. I was at work and decided to bust open the bigger older looking white tower. And what do you know not 1 but 2!! Pentium pros. I was ecstatic. Made the rest of my work night a lil better needless to say.

So here is a picture. Cuz it did happen! Lol

I forgot to mention I also got a zenith data systems laptop. It has a Intel sx316 which is part of 80386 family. The hard drive in it is a whopping 60 mb harddrive in it. I'll get some more pics tomorrow. I got a really old hard drive and floppy they look like they came out of the same machine. A good day for old stuff and a good way to start the year. I told my self I'm gonna make it happen. This a small but good start.

Keep it up , glad you came out of the gate smoking for 2015 . Nothing better than setting a goal than obtaining one . Might want to send a pic of some of them to some buyers on here , check the buyers thread for vintage item buyers , I believe they pay well above scrap value both parts and whole

The gold alone makes it worth whatever he got for em - can't legally say what they go for as several in the buyer/seller area has em listed as pentium pro cpus.

I think theres half of a gram of Gold in each one.
Its one of the highest amounts of Gold in a CPU that you can find.
Theres some other chips that are close, but they are from the same era, like the CPU with the two bolts on its Gold plated cap.
Theres a few 0.4 grams of Gold CPU's, they will have a Gold cap, Gold underside and Gold pins.
    Like a K5 chip.

From there the amount of Gold drops off quickly, like 0.3gms with a Gold cap/pins.
Then its mostly 0.2 gms for the larger CPU's

Small CPU are from 0.01 to 0.2, depending on which sort.

But I would like to know how much Gold in a 486 or 386 ceramic plain top CPU.

I can't honestly say that there's more gold in them but a quick check and I see that they are selling for less then the 386 and 486 chips.
I think people like them because you just don't see that many, especially a dual cpu. I'd remove the mother board, put the cpu's back in, clean it up and hang it on my wall.
    That's where mine is hanging.

There are approximately 5 Pentium Pros in a pound, so as scrap you would be getting about $15 each. Yes, these are worth less per pound than others, but individually they are worth more because they weigh so much. So, finding two of them in a tower is much better than finding two 486s or similar.

IIm going to see if I can get it back working. everything is in the tower still. No bent pins on the CPUs. So I need a power cord and an old ps2 mouse and keyboard. And hopefully it'll work. If not yes. I will be displaying them for a bit.

I would guess it would have NT or W2K installed because those were the only versions of windows that could see or use dual CPU's at the time.
