I have been selling scrap copper and brass for more than ten years. As this has been a waste byproduct of my main business construction/landscaping. Trying to control waste cost brought me to SMF, where I have learned from all of you, there's much more to learn. I have been calling myself a "Rookie" scrapper for the last four years. As this is a new year, I'm going to no longer call myself a rookie scraper, don't know any protocols for us scrapers, so I'm just a scraper now (I think?).
I say this because of a couple observations, conclusions and a little thought. 1. I deal with multiple yards and scrap buyers. 2. At my two main yards I met the managers some time ago and we address each other by first names. 3. I'm building a 15' x 12' storage building for my processed scrap. 4. With my OMG it's gold bucket and my new "I might fill this Tantalum capacitor can before I die". I have over 30 categories that I break and process scrap into. 5. Yesterday after I sold my scrap, I took about thirty minutes to teach a young couple. I taught them the things I have learned from my time here at SMF.
I'm a scraper for a lot of reasons, mostly because I want to keep learning and do the right things in life.
