Huge load + Price list

Just thought I'd share my load I brought in and the prices, I'd love to hear what people are getting for prices. Theres a pic of all the nonferrous and than me standing on the truck taking a pic of trailer. It was loaded down to the ground and the hitch was hitting on large bumps. Used lots of straps though and it was a great load. $125/ton on steel so that was no good and copper was a little low.

I'd have a grin on my face with $125 a ton for shred. Last I check here it was at $80...

and I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place too because its not really worth hauling to reno. But I have no place to sit on it. So its either haul it to reno(wear and tear on truck/trailer, extra gas etc) it becomes a wash at that point OR I can take it to a guy in Carson city and get like $25 a ton......... And that $50 a ton is MY price. I would hate to see what walkin price is......

I remember getting around 10 cents/ lb but now its down to 6, I couldn't imagine getting what you guys are. Copper really hit me hard this run though at $2-$2.30 I had over 100lbs and I really took a hit on it. Also I hate the way my yard sorts so I get close to nothing for insulated copper wire its like .40/lb so I'm going to find a new yard for nonferrous

still $150-$180 today but only a matter of time

It's still $0.05 per pound here ($100/Ton). But, it's a 250 mile round trip to my yard (Local ones won't take electronics/appliances). I'm praying that my engine gets in my truck soon, because I'm purging before it crashes any farther. The trailer's already loaded.

This is going to be a long ride!

Devin- Didn't mean to you slam you with my whining about steel prices here. Looking at all your sorted materials, there's a lot of hard work involved. Enjoy that check!!!

Jimicrk and others will multiple yards within decent driving distance- I mean no disrespect but be thankful you all are in locations where you have such situations. For matador, gabrielservices, and myself, as well as others, its pretty much Hobson's Choice (the price offered or nothing) because there is only one yard close enough to drive to without taking a major undertaking. Even if I did have a large load of shred to take in (which I don't because of my limited storage area), driving another 200-250 miles would really need some penciling out to see if would be worth it. If a guy had a semi-load with heavy steel, it probably would be worth it but a pick-up & a trailer???

Believe me I'm very thankful. I can't imagine having to drive 200-250 miles to a scrapyard.

Just to clarify, I have a steel taking scrap yard 15 miles from me but to get a higher price than what they offered, it would probably be a 200-250 mile drive (don't know how far Devin's place is from here--metro Omaha??-would be 180+ miles) to get a noticeable difference in price.

If a yard was that far from me, I wouldn't even bother driving, I would just stockpile until they go up... But everyones in different situations so you gotta do what you gotta do

If you are at 2.50-2.85 at your yard.......I would be turning every bit I could find. Kitco was showing 2.47 spot price today.

Devin's where's you yard located (town)? Do you know of the Nucor plant in Norfolk?? I suspect that's where your steel scrap is ending up. There's got to be a reason why your yard is 30+% higher than most in the Upper Missouri River states. Again, I didn't say I didn't have a close by yard only that their price is never that high ($115 a ton for shred last summer has been the best its been for me in the past 2 years). I really don't have an option here at the house to store much shred, at the bro's maybe. Ask Patriot 76 or Pjost the number of places they check out for selling. They probably know more places than I do but I don't think there's anyplace in the eastern Dakotas. western MN or nw Iowa that's going to set the shred world on fire for price...

just called our big scrap yard here in western chicago and they said 150-180 for a gross ton

seems much higher than what everyone else is seeing

does every yard go by 2240 lbs=gross ton?

You probably have end users in the area that your yard is selling directly to so they don't have as much transportation costs and may cut out another middleman as well.

Our yard calls it "NT" which I'm not sure exactly what it means but I think they use a straight ton and not some adjusted amount.
