Apparently this was too wide for the scale and guess the driver waiting for his boss. I told the scale guy call it 50 ton and let him in the back door lol. His eyes bugged out of his head. All he said is not his problem, the drivers problem. I should have stopped and asked the driver where it came from. Because I cant think of any functioning or closed mines needing these earth movers near scranton, pa.

Been spotting quit a bit of them around here being used on the gas lines (fracking).
They are tearing up stuff all over.
That is a possibility curbside. There is a fracking operation up the line about 20 miles or so. Hmm, but this looks old like 50's or 60's. Also looks like it had a bad accident.

Har!! You shoulda told that stupid scale operator to tell the trucker to get the h*ll outa there and go to another yard!! Maybe that would compute in his pea brain.
The silly *ss. Roll out the red carpet for a load like that!!
If the scale deck wasn't wide enough, put the tractor on the scale first, then turn the whole mess around and back the rear trailer wheels on the deck. Add the two weights.

Guys at the yard torched one of those up this summer.
The only remaining part is the bed and I'm pretty sure the boss man want's it for his own operation. seeing as he paid scrap price for it
Yeah it's old 50- 60's
When we put the wind farm in up on the mountains there were a couple wrecks from new hires breaking down the mountain...scary sight,,,, outta control dump truck barreling down the mountain at ya, luckily I got the excavator arm turned outta the way before that got wiped too...scary....dangerous and scary.
also one roller and one dozer got destroyed going down over the embankment while cutting roads to the top. the roller is still down there I believe

I will have to take a pic of the scale. But basically it is tractor trailer size, but they have steel ibeams along side each side. So its only maybe 2-3 feet wider than a tractor trailer if that. Very tight quarters for a truck.

Sounds like either the beams need to come off or time for a new scale imo.

Sounds like the wind farm contracting was a gong show. Lost a dozer, packer and a dump truck? On one job? Hunh. That would attract OSHA like a ton of bricks. (or maybe not?)

I can't believe that they can't get that on a scale. Who would put a scale that close to a building?
I bet that there's another yard nearby that could process that load

All equipment lost was old newbie equipment and the amount of new equipment brought in during and after the job tells me the big boy's did all right for themselves and businesses (joint operation).
It was something else to see those tractor trailers with 150 ft blades coming up what used to be a skidder trail turned mountain road but they did it.
24 turbines 15 miles of road and a lotta scary moments but project complete.

Sounds like a fun job, anyway. I guess I'm used to the logging around here--pretty steep--and very, very few accidents. And your comments about the newbies being the ones that get into trouble resonates here, too. There's lots of advertising stuff around here from the WCB (BC OSHA equivalent) to be right on top of the young newbies to coach them extra carefully!)
