Too put it lightly!
Ohhh they cared all right, and we all had full blown gear on in the equipment after the first runaway. This was NOT a place to learn heavy equipment. I am no master operator, many are better than me and can push their machines further and faster but this place was scary! steep cliffs and loose ground lots of streams, rain and runoff as well...Bad combo
.
But the accidents were chalked up to inexperienced operators who lied to get the job, It really was the regular crew and a buncha highscool age kids, I won't put it past them up here you would be surprised at how well some kids can operate, but the one I saw hollering in the radio as he was barreling down the mountain was NUTS!
All equipment lost was old newbie equipment and the amount of new equipment brought in during and after the job tells me the big boy's did all right for themselves and businesses (joint operation).
It was something else to see those tractor trailers with 150 ft blades coming up what used to be a skidder trail turned mountain road but they did it.
24 turbines 15 miles of road and a lotta scary moments but project complete.
Sorry for the derail OP
