Carnac the Magnificent

If you know this skit your my generation if not you get the idea

So on my job thats sorta what goes on see I toss bags in out of truck
and with some kinda mystical power I hold a bag .The weight the feel
and in a subconscious flow I open . 99% of the time the bag has a true item of value
Wires - tools - car chargers - you name it . really a subconscious flow of mind .
If I just haphazard open the results are 5% 10 % a decent find but more like Na.



I noticed this Carnac thing starting to happen after 8 months on the job
but really how could I know a good bag?? Still it happens now after multi thousands of pounds of bags .
I handle 3000 plus pounds bags per day 4 days a week . Have I become tuned to the bag ??

In the disposable world we live in, I imagine you find and hopefully get to bring home some good stuff.

I suspect you have developed ways to size up a bag very quickly; the overall weight, shapes against the sides of the bag, dispoportinal weight on one side or the other. I'm pretty sure my trash guys know what my black plastic bags are with skinned out critters in them and technically they should probably charge me a separate fee in handling them because I think the city has supposedly a rendering part of the landfill for animal carcasses. But I don't think it happens. I've learned not to throw skinned out skunk carcasses in the trash because they might not smell when I throw them in but after compacting, oops!! I also wonder if those guys have ever opened one of my heavy duty black bags and wondered why the critter body has no head in many cases (there is a market for critter teeth and cleaned skulls--I don't ask people what they do with anymore though)?? The trash guys probably just shake their head and say, "that guy is crazy!"...

Disproportional weight definitely .It's all about weight , the sounds and a truth that is consistent , people toss out scrap and useful goods .
so add the percentage of what people toss out . to the percentage of the feel and your bound to hit 99% .
Some times I open all bags fast and you find but no better then the Feel -
often you can't do to time constants But when a Feel hits I put it to the side .

One loss I have not been able to fully take advantage of are the massive Aluminum cans the .5 cent aspect and weight = .45 a pound
200 per day easy it's like there all over the place Recycle , trash . I think 12 to 16 cans = a pound I gotta get that AL .

Kinda similar to if you work retail long enough or any sales. You can tell a buyer from a window shopper.

I used to amaze my fellow employee's when I did the retail game.

12 oz. cans its more like 30 to make a pound (about half an ounce each). If the cans are scattered willy-nilly in most bags, yeah, I think it would be hard to open them all up and keep your route schedule. Hate to see Al cans go to the landfill but unless there are good numbers in a bag or your super, super quick...

I decided that I will keep a 80 gal tub next to large trash truck wile it's at the transfer-station My boss will not care .I'll put cans in there maybe not at 100% but some
lets see what a month brings .
