Wow $35 a ton

Just made a trip to the scrapyard here in Eastern Montana:
Today's Prices
Tin - $35 Ton
Unprepared - $45 Ton
Prepared - $60
All other metals where down as well.
I guess I'll just keep watching the steel pile get higher and bigger.
It's a 2 hour round trip for me to the scrapyard, so need the price
to go back up to make it worth it.
Keep on Hoarding!!

I've had my trailer loaded. As soon as we get our larger truck, I'm sending the load in. But, that'll be the last load for a long, long time!

What yard did you go to?

In this area , Eastern MA, Cars down to $80.00 a ton >> 2000 pounds or .04 a pound

My scrap yard in British Columbia made the decision Friday that they are not buying any type of steel/tin/cast steel at this time... people are welcome to drop it off but prices are so low that it's not even worth it to them to buy.

non ferrous is not doing horrible tho..

Can't waint until spring when the prices start to go up again

I called the steel place in my metro yesterday. Hadn't been there since Nov. at the latest. Last I heard it was $80 a ton for shred. Sort of what I was expecting, $40 a ton yesterday. I asked when they were going to open up their new bigger yard that is less than 3 miles from my place instead of the 15 mile one-way other side of town small place. She said "April or May". I had heard Jan. or Feb. so I asked her if the low prices had caused a push back in the dates. "No, its been the cold weather..." OK, I'll see if they're open in April/May (because they weren't planning to shut the old yard down).

Meanwhile, my little pile of steel at the house will stay put (and maybe grow a bit) until this close by yard opens. I'd at least like to get enough for a full fast food meal instead of just the burger...

No guarantee that it will go up. This is not a normal cycle.

this was a hassel for me recently but solved that problem by working with other scrappers and now getting $0.07lb and thanks to everyone dropping out of this it was the fastest one of my partners had even loaded a gondola and got 82ton in not just from me my little contribute was just over 5ton lol I am glad for this forum and its peoples posts for giving me the option to do this and finding the people I needed to make my small amounts turn and burn lol
