Any guess how much a forklift can bring at scrapyard?

Hey guys, noobie here. My dad has an old RC3000 forklift, dead battery, and Ferro Five FR Series charger. Any idea what it can fetch at the scrap yard? Just curious.

A new battery and post it on cl. If your serious about scrapping it though I would only expect scrap price at low shred if you don't tear it apart. May have to remove wheels, and if there's a sealed tank on it (prob not since it's battery) than some yards require them cut. Battery goes for more tear if off, wires inside and if you must take off wheels rims could be aluminum. Also check whole body you may find some aluminum to cut off. I would expect a low amount for it since current prices. I'd post "broken forklift" on Craigslist and you would find a buyer more than scrap value EASILY a if you list it a bit more. Plus you don't need to haul it. Id tear it apart for the fun of it and to learn and post lots of pics and maybe how much you get could benefit other people. To get it to the yard if all you have is a truck and no trailer depending on how much it weighs you may need to rent or buy a small utility trailer... It's hard to get a fork in a truck without another forklift. Good luck and hope to see pics and hear more

Ok sorry just looked up a picture and have more to add. If you do scrap it remove forks and sell. If you have no room to store post on cl cheap and you'll sell quick. Maybe part it out to other owners of these if you have space and time. Could probably load into truck with some Ramps and group of people. Careful though

Well scraping a forklift is pretty simple, the way to tell what it weighs is by the gross weight it picks up, if it picks 5,000 Lbs then that's what it would weigh, now the prices are low right now as we all know but it is what it is.

Pull the battery and forks, Load it up and bring it to Weitsman. $500 in change depending on weight.

Light iron at Weitsman is 137/GT. That would need to weigh about 8200 pounds to get $500

I took a look at eBay for your forklift and running versions are $5K and up. How bad is yours?....would it run with another battery? You might get a lot more than $500 even without the battery.... Parting it out might be worthwhile, too, because I think it is a popular make.

Don't be too anxious to just take it in for scrap 'cause you would be selling at the very bottom of the market. Couldn't get much worse for pricing.

If you are patient you probably will end up with some decent coin for the thing.

Ok so he'd get $700 instead of $500, wasn't sure of the weight. Weitsman's giving 201 a ton for steel which is roughly $0.10/lb. Even if they took it at mixed tin pricing of $0.09/lb, that's still $630 and change. Pricing might be different on the island, but that's current pricing for their Solvay yard as of Monday.
