A local yard here told me yesterday that they went up to $5/100 lb. I think they are on a quota and have to load so many roll offs a week to get their best deal on selling. It's tough on them like it is on us.

Yards that want to survive are going to need the metal. Better price, better service, better hours whatever it takes to get the metal. Before they did not have to do anything the price brought in every Tom, **** and Harry

We purchase laptop computers and many components for greater than scrap value. We offer a shipping reimbursement program.replies

A yard closed on a Wednesday afternoon!? That's interesting....

    That doesn't sound good, though

Well they had to dump the "expensive" metal they had on hand and now they need cheap metal to fill contract requirements. Also what they buy now may go way up in value over the next few months.

Up north the weather is also part of the problem . Seems to me regardless
    two paths
if we keep not bringing in product
margin may change for the better
    or
We could see yards fold ,
We need think this out ,our metals only have value cause some one will buy from us .
so do we continue to be scarce or give what we got to keep our yards alive ?

The two largest yards here that I know of have changed to only being open on weekdays. Schnitzer and Sims. Hopefully this will benefit the smaller yards.
