It Can Only Get Better (Warmer)

Holy crap I have a lot of crap! I was a pack rat long before scrapping, can't bring myself to toss something that could be useful later. It was finally warm enough, or I was bored enough because it was still cold, to spend a bit of time in the garage cleaning, sorting and moving stuff around in the hopes I will have something to fill it with soon. Just poking around I found 5+ HDD I didn't remember, realized I have 2 sets of tools now (at least) and found the PS2 and XBox I didn't remember scrapping but couldn't find. All the empty bins were a little depressing but are stacked ready to be filled and I've almost got my benches set up for the chop saw (Curbco) and double wheel grinder (Curbco) I've wanted to set up for months. Next week will hopefully be a decent garbage week and I want to be ready! This weekend should finish the job.

I knew I forgot something...the most uplifting find was old receipts from the yard, with larger amounts on them than I have seen in a while...

Yep, tonight will be the first go and it's above zero (Celsius) already this morning! Here's hoping others were poking around their garages this weekend like I was!

oh man I am always wishing that I had big city buyers here in my smaller town so my trash would not be so much as a lot of what I toss others would buy if I had enough or take for free if they were close enough but ya when its nice out like this week will be around here it gets things done

Jeez .... it's been a hard winter. I don't think i've ever seen one this cold and snowy before. Eaton's cove froze all the way out to open water. The ice has been receding every day so it looks like we might be through the worst of it. ( Thank goodness !)

Next up ... warmer weather with daytime temps in the 30's & 40's.

I don't know if it's the same for you guys but the flu cuts loose and goes through the population here just after the winter weather change every year. This particular strain is a nasty. Knocked me right off my feet and i seldom come down sick.

I didn't see a single laptop or tower come in during Jan & Feb but they're starting to filter in now.

Anyway .... i'm cautiously optimistic. The signs are there. We could still have a storm or two come through but it looks like we're through the worst of it.

Can't wait for the (spring) peep frogs !

Curbco was nothing fantastic the last two nights but my phone exploded on Monday! I did 2 pick ups Monday night which included a 42" Sony Trinitron and so much stuff at the second (all steel/shred) one I had to make 2 trips. While I was out doing these I made appointments to get 5 more decent sized CRTs Tuesday plus I went to a guy's house for 8 towers. They were picked over but still had Mobos and RAM for the most part. Plus, he's been doing computer repairs for 37 years and says it might be time to clean out his basement! He said he has lots of components including stuff to make your own PCBs like capacitors and resistors and what not. Really hope to hear from him again!

    NA,

Do you bring your stuff to where you work? In other words, do they give a fair price? If so, that must be a bit of a perk...gotta go to work anyway, so the gas to bring the stuff in is already paid for!!

Yes, I take it to work with me for the most part. Hubby likes to take some in to the yard by us (shhh!) once in a while to get rid of stuff and make some money. he also checks prices there and reports back to me lol.

Aw man, my work being in the middle of my long Monday night route comes in handy. I set a hopper outside before I left work and good thing too, I stopped there and offloaded a full truck load before heading home on the other half of the route (filled up again!!) so this definitely comes in handy!

Literally had t wo scrappers stop at sons house where I had just dropped a gutted tv for said tv and told them both it was already gutted, sorry!

lol, despite those two other scrappers i filled the truck and thats what I dropped off at work before heading home the other half of the route.
