Wow. working in the industry, I can see possibly buying a stolen converter not knowing its stolen. When we buy them we ask what it came off of and hold onto it for a while. older ones, you really can't tell what they are off of but an influx of that many converters should set off alarm bells of some sort.
I wonder what tipped them off, an employee maybe?
Scrapper, Scrap Yard Worker, Horse farm worker, Cooler Puller and just plain ''tired''
They were investigated in 2012 as well.
I was wondering where all those stolen cats reported in Milwaukee County were going. There isn't a yard around here that would even dare, Lots and Lots of EYES.
NA
A cat with fresh sawzall cuts is a dead giveaway.
A yard near me was in the news at the beginning of the year as one of two yards that got "stung" by police. Among other things, they had 17(!) shopping carts repossessed as stolen property. Right after they put up signs saying they will only take "evacuated" refridgerant appliances, since people had been draining the lines in the yard and someone must have said something.
METAL IS MY MISTRESS...PLEASE DON'T TELL MY WIFE!
I work in a pretty rough hood of Chicago, and catalytic converter thefts of church vans, mini buses from charity organizations us a fairly common thing.
