Went to the yard with goodies. Had a little time and cleaned out the accumulation at the shop. Not too bad. Today is a "good beer" day!

Nice little payday.
I have 2 questions
What are "LY Motors"?
and
What was the difference between the #2 coppers? One was 2.05 and the other 2.07
I'm going to recycle the world.
Yeah, lots of garage sale brass.
I am not exactly sure on either question, but...
I had two types of motors. Ceiling fan and pump motors and light fan motors (fart fans) I would imagine that was the difference.
#2 coppers? Some was kinda icky with leftover insulation on it and the other was electroplated. Perhaps that was what made the difference there.
I think the "LY" stand for low yield. Where I go it's "high grade" or "low grade" depending on if it's a bare motor or still encased in plastic/steel/wood. The motor out of a vacuum would go as high and the vacuum head unopened as low.

t00nces2 - Thanks for sharing your prices, I'm always amazed and surprised with how different prices, scrap classifications are from different cities. Makes you wonder though why the classification can very with different yards. I know that there are different classifications with different prices just with the yards I deal with. My steel yard has five different classifications and only two types of copper. My non-ferrous yard does several copper, brass, and aluminum. That's why I like to keep up with what others are getting.
