    One of those days

To day was special .Started as a typical errand day & as luck had it any road I drove any corner I turned
I found scrap . todays catch
dismantled 5 TVs and put back together so local trash gets the TV but you know
a heavy tread mill , vacuum wire 200 pounds short a drill 2 micro waves 2 lamps few pounds brass and some of this and some of that
It was a good day .
If I had a bigger truck today Ida kept at it . I used a tarp and all was good. I cant stress enough how important a tarp is
& some bungee cords . Nothing falls off & of equal importance the police really like it cause you don't get pulled over for unsecured load
after 2 tickets from a year ago and some stops with no tickets I will never ever not use a tarp , EVER

    strapping is not really enough
if they want to ticket you

Nice, I keep 40 straps in my truck just in case I need for different things. I'll run as much as 15 over 1 load of loose stuff, never though about a tarp because it's hard to secure to my sides with the air catching it, thinking about a netted one or making my own out of stucco mesh.

Yes this is a netted tarp , True solid tarps not good Netted work like a charm and the feeling you get is peace of mind
Yes I still strap down then use a netted tarp with bungee cords it just stays put & little things don't fly off . I don't say this with pride but for 6 or 7 years I just roped things down and yes some items have fell off & got past the big strapped down items . You just can't always count on the larger scrap stuff holding down some of the smaller items .I'm surprised only got 2 tickets and been told by police legally they want to see a tarp .

Consider this - scrapping is on the outer fringe of society . you find things that could be counted as unlawful if the cops wanted to press the issue ( but they don't )

picture the seen a loaded truck all roped up nice and a flimsy aluminum thing a am-gig flies off . Car driver behind panics swerves hits a car
god forbid a death . Well there will be no scrap profit worth the out come .

I got lucky many a time and luck for this work need only be regulated to finding scrap , not keeping it in truck
No netted tarp + scrap items = a disaster (sooner or later) 1+1=2

If it extends over yes - a red anything
I got more in the habit of the tarp from my job . Now if I have a full truck I feel naked uncovered
I see very clear that a working truck doing any Biz , if you do every thing proper of the law
and a problem happens your still gonna be seen in the wrong and sued strong just because
Now if you get lax and kill some one cause your working and made a mistake you could go to jail
for manslaughter cause you endangered the public (no tarp) collecting scrap from the curb is
illegal when needed by the state to be so who will be charging your A** with more fines then you'll
know what hit you & manslaughter ,it will be over !

At least here in Ontario, it doesn't have to be a red flag. It has to be a visible flag of "contrasting colour to the vehicle" So if you have a red truck, DON'T use red flag! I would think that 3M reflective material from safety vests would be the ideal flagging material as it would contrast with anything and I don't think too many people have a vehicle painted with reflective paint.
