    Venetian blinds

Aluminum naturally . I'm at the yard disassembling fast the the steel top and bottom
and the mess of AL slates builds a massive pile .
The yard worker says we don't pay AL prices on blinds any more

ME thinking - WHAT ??? but it's AL
and it was the full consensuses
from the casher to the main manager No melt value . Put it to
    mix .
I say I don't get it Venetian blind AL can't be any worse then AL cans I think better they say Nope !

I pack the night mare back into truck ,take it to another yard and get paid .47 # = to $76.00 - Was the first yard trying pulling a fast one cause $76 felt fine to me.

That's why its good to have competition. You guys that have a good number of choices of selling places for most or all of your scrap, say within a half an hour drive or so, should consider yourselves blessed...

I had a similar issue with Alum cat food cans, which I had mixed with other Alum sheet. I had to remove about 30 lbs of cans but the yard did at least pay 5 cents/lb for the separated cans :-)

Reason given by the manager " when they smelt the kitty cans, most of it goes up the chimney"

I had an experience with a yard trying to screw me out of money on aluminum a couple years ago. I had torn out an big revolving door thing at our local gym, it was some kind of crazy pressurized door system cause it kept the pool area separate from the rest of the gym. At any rate, I had a whole truck load of big chunks of aluminum, as I had cut it up only small enough to get out the building and onto my flatbed pickup (6x8 pieces or so, probably 1/8" thick). The yard wanted to pay me unprepared aluminum price, because it was "too big". I said thanks but no thanks, made a call to another place 45 minutes away and asked if there was such a thing as "too big". The answer..."we dont care how big it is, bring it". So shopping around can help out sometimes.

I brought in some alum pipe once and my buyer said "It needs to fit in a gaylord" They cut it up for me.. but I was warned for next time. Geez.. they want me to melt it and bring it in at 99.9% pure ingots next for .40/lb?
I'm so into scrapping.. When my Steel Toe Boots Wear out, I cut the Steel out of them and recycle the Toe!

By me if you remove the aluminum blades they want to give you dirty for them. So I just leave them on the steel and get dirty alum price for them as is $.25 lb. If they want to pay me dirty alum for the clean aluminum slats then guess what they are paying me $.25 for the steel as well!
