Is this profitable?
From my short calculations, paying my employee 8/hr, its more cost efficient in my eyes to sell the HDD Scrap complete.
Any thoughts?
Do a search for hard drive...I did not look but I can promise this has been covered
Every possible "is this profitable" question has been asked. The answer is always "maybe, it depends on your situation" Mike
"Profit begins when you buy NOT when you sell." {quote passed down to me from a wise man}
Now go beat the copper out of something, Miked
Yes it depends on your situation. If you own a company and have employees processing your scrap then maybe it's not. Some of us here do this as a hobby or a part time job and don't worry about such things.
I do this as a hobby, I break all my drives down in the morning as I listen, watch the news before I go to work.
I bought a similar set from Midway USA; was ordering some ammo and needed a little more to qualify for free shipping. The little tool set caught my eye, and its been great. I've used it for all sorts of stuff around the house to. As far as profit goes, doesnt matter much, cause I like messing with hard drives. IDK, maybe cause there is almost zero garbage in them, maybe I like playing with the magnets, but I just like tearing them apart...
I'm with you brass: I break them down too.. Siphon off the board, then pull apart the drive.. If I send them in whole like this I get "Dirty Alum" price.. if I break them down I get 2x the amount because I've taken all the "dirty" out of it and I am sending in clean alum to the buyer!
I'm so into scrapping.. When my Steel Toe Boots Wear out, I cut the Steel out of them and recycle the Toe!
