Unless you get written permission from the rail road leave those right where they are. The rail roads are very strict about their stuff being taken and love to make examples of people. I think it's ridiculous they let all this junk sit around and don't let anyone take it but nothing anyone can do about it.

I just was fishing on the tracks they are everywhere. Go to the rail yard and see if you can build them a magnetic thing on there train and scrap with them lol. I was thinking what a ton of scrap and number one all along the train tracks but even if you didnt mind breaking the law and you could slip it into a load and sell to a yard why take that chance. You know plus the yard you sell to def will work with the cops and now if they ever had a walk through and see that they catch heat for stuff they didnt do right. Best to leave it and move on. Push the issue though. I keep hearing all these urban type scrap myths and think if your hungry keep asking questions, how people say they will be answered does not matter. You may get the answer you want to hear but you have to knock first and or you will never get anything you want.

Write a letter to the rail yard and tell them your story. your scrapping you could have stolen it and you didnt but you want to build this company etc etc. I keep hearing all this stuff about our founding fathers, they didnt take no for an answer, they also knew a hards days work and did a lot of different things to make it but when they felt in their gut they felt a certain way def no answer off a forum would have stopped Carnige from buying steel. His steel right made all the cities possible, with out Carnige steel New york would be like big city you know. building up made our country possible. THat rockifeller guy sold kerosine that guess what gave us light. Imagine that before this rockifeller guy when the sun came up you worked and when it was down all and I mean all was dark. you went inside to hide with your kids because sin and bad stuff happen at nite. Imagine how a oil lamp changed the world. Then this Vanderbuilt guy liked trains so much he owned the only train track bridge in and out of NY CITY. Imagine one guy owned a single bridge that supplied the whole country north south west with everything. One day he put a marshall on the bridge and stopped trains from going over. Guess what he bleed the country dry legally and other train companies that moved cargo went under and he bought them.

THese guys made our county what it is now. They didnt take no for an answer. So go get your answer from the train yard and let us know because I waant to know the answer too.
btw I just watched men who made america on netflix 4 awesome episodes I think every man in america should watch it. You wont be able to walk into walmart with out feeling sick again. And walmart isnt the problem they are filling a need. Walmart is doing a service we want. Cheap imported goods from non american workers. Thats my and your fault. I cant afford to buy something you would make as a private craftsman. Im sorry.

So true, I am going to sit down and write BNSF and see if they could grant me permission to pick up the scrap metal from their tracks, plus I will have safety protocols in place to show them I can do this in a safe manner, I know that BNSF is all about safety, not only for their employees but for the community as well, hopefully I can make some kind of deal with them one way or the other.
