    Turbos?

Yanno the go fast snails on cars and trucks? I have been thinking about getting into core buying since we have actual work space these days and I'm all about diversification. I wanted to bring it up here BECAUSE I am an experienced car guy and I know we have alot of auto scrappers on here. Most turbos are pretty easy to take off. I might even be getting into injector purchasing too...One of these days. I just wanted opinions on the matter, and what I might expect from the guys on the ground. What do you see most of like VWs, Audis, etc...do you take them out already or is this a new avenue? Feel free to chime in I want to know how I can be more productive and create a new outlet for the community.

I have no idea if there is market for core turbos. I would be surprised if they are rebuilt. They are such a tight clearance item and very close tolerances, I doubt anyone would buy to rebuild. They take a lot of abuse with the high rpm and extreme temp, so doubt you could even rebuild at end of life. Just like cv axles, china used to buy them all the time to rebuild. Now they don't, cheaper to build new.

Although I could see one use. You can make a hillbilly jet engine out of them, check youtube.

There is also videos on how they are made and apparently most pieces are one piece cast aluminum or steel.

As far as I know. Turbos are rebuilt. But I'm not positive though

I have a few laying around from my old sw20 mr2 . I believe there is a place that rebuilds them in ky. I would be interested in seeing if some fetched a premium as I frequent the pick and pulls almost weekly and you never know what you might find there

There are quite a few turbo rebuilders listed on line. You can even order DIY turbo rebuild kits.

If they're rebuilding, it stands to reason that they would be in the market to buy cores. You might be able to work a deal with them Wolf.

It's hard to say with the fuel injectors. That's a mission critical part. Personally, i would be inclined to buy the best quality new. They're not terribly expensive.

The diesel market is where the money is on turbos and injectors. Truck guys like to tinker, and replacement parts are spendy. An injector set for my pickup is several thousand dollars

I do the rebuilding myself already, I left the diesel industry to do scrap. I know they are rebuildable items (for the most part) and you can get every replacement part conceivable including the center section. I was testing the waters here to see if anyone might be interested in an additional buy item from me.

Both sound like ebay items for audience. I've only played around with the banks system on my dads Dodge(and further experimented with building a hho bubbler).
