    Price update for Hampton Roads

Had to run a load today instead of my normal Saturday cause they are closed for the holiday weekend. But 2 weeks ago we where at 105GT and today it was 125GT. This brought a smile to my face.

Everyone have a great Memorial Day weekend. Honor those who serve and have served.

I'm going to recycle the world.

Thats great TinCanKeith. What yard to you use up there? I am down in Dare County, NC and my closest yards are well below that, $80/ton at one and 100/ton at one further up towards you in Currituck were today's prices. My saving grace is easy access to free broken aluminum beach chairs :-D

I go to sims in Chesapeake Va. Nice main yard next to the water so they load the ship right there.

You need to look harder...but if you think driving two hours to hampton is worth the extra 30 over the Hundred you can get local....that's on you.

Plenty of places well before having to drive to Va.

Take in gas an time an that hundred per looks better.

Me? I'll not fight all the traffic to an from the sandbar just to visit a yard in Va. Ain't worth the time or money, especially during the summer.

    Don't listen to me tho.

Sirscrapalot - Beach traffic is the suck.

I was thinking the same thing but figured I would throw it over the fence and let him decide.

Agreed. Beach traffic is the suck. I wouldn't make a special trip, it wouldnt be worth it. I will drop conveniently in Wanchese or Powells point depending on which way I'm heading for the day. I am up Moyock way for work with some regularity. Just yesterday had to go to Knotts Island.
But thanks for the 2 cent scrap!

Here's your protip of the day...

Both will rip you off given a chance.

if you refer to melvins, I'd steer clear if you dabble in any ewaste. According to them there is a oz of gold in every computer. Hi-Tech is the yard everyone else feeds to.

Anyhow..you likely have your relationships. If I were you..I'd look to a yard up in EC or Hi-Tech if your up by Moyock regularly.

An Keith...I might be up your way invading Busch Gardens soon. Letcha know, in case you wanna come crack a bottle or three.

Sirscrapalot - Don't fear the cooler...ok, maybe you should depending on what it's stocked with.

Thanks for the pro tip. I wouldn't say I have relationships with them. I have taken small loads both places while generally ignorant of what prices should be and what to expect.
I am still ignorant on most things scrap I would say, especially e waste. In the past I primarily looked for stuff to resale, still do. I talked to hi tech yesterday and plan to go there next time I have have a pile of pump motors pulled apart.
I will look into EC yards. Thanks.

I have some apple cherry wine that finished up recently at 14%, I back sweetened it back down to 9%. Nothing to fear but man I respect it.
Come to think of it, my favorite thing to "scrap" are dandelions people let me pick for free and make wine with!

As others will say an have...

Best service you can do yourself is read here. EVERYTHING.

Just watch the yards. The two above are shady as a grove of oak trees. Hi-Tech is a good one, pricing should be higher then the other two as their the big yard that everyone else sells to. The yard in EC is Further to drive but better pricing, an staff then the two closest to you(an me). Plus they'll answer questions an help you on the sorting if your new to things. Good folks.

I won't name the yard here on the public side, sorry. I'd rather the fussy folks use the other two yards. lol

Once your post count is higher, I'll drop you a pm with the yard name.
