    Im learning.....

Well last night I went out the earliest i had ever been beat a scrapper to an aluminum grill and then was following my route and found a stove. then the owners were there and said they would have a washer and dryer very soon. then we saw some pieces of aluminum trim then the guy saw us and gave me an iron railing and then said he needed to get 2 fridges and a stove out soon too. so if these call come in i will have one full truck. the other thing i learned is I needed business cards. I should have had a couple to seem unlike a random guy in a truck. So first thing last night... i printed up about 30 of my own to hold me over till i get more.

And that's how it starts. Good going!! Did you get names or addresses so you could check back with them rather than rely on them to remember you or how to contact you?
People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.

Might be a good idea to keep a small notepad in the truck and jot down their address/ph number. Even if you give them a card, because they might lose it. You can follow up in a week or so.

I need to jot down addresses too. Been a few times I saw metal and wanted to stop in but either didn't have room, or time. Most recent one was a tin shed was blown upside down into some ones yard. No idea where I saw it though...

Sounds like you are well on your way!

Business cards are the best! I always hand out 2 or 3 at a time. People like to say "Oh yeah, I have a guy for that" then they hand your card out. Referrals are free advertising. I usually give contractors 10 or more cards if they are happy with me. Always pays off.
