I have to admit I am a little confused by the statement. I thought the far, far, left of center have been in control for the last eight years. Am I missing something. Our present administration has racked up a larger debt than all of the previous administrations combined. Maybe more education on my part is needed because I fail to see your point.
I agree that our government is living beyond its means, but if I have a choice between our military spending and our social welfare system there is no doubt in my mind. If you are one that depends on government handouts, I feel sorry for you.
Without getting political (against forum rules) I will end this with three letters: FDR and those that follow his footsteps.
I'm looking back much further than the last eight years. With the exception of a few years back in the early days we've been running up a larger and larger debt since the country was founded. Unfortunately, this is what politicians of every stripe do. They tend to overspend.
It would help if we could build a broad bi-partisan consensus on what our most pressing problems are and set party affiliations aside.
To put it another way: If our economic system collapses nobody gets what they want and we all suffer. Let's face down the common threat and then we can go back to bickering over politics later ?
Infighting & finger pointing will not solve this problem.
