My Gaylord of choice are chemical totes. They are four x four x four feet made of plastic with metal frame. They do not collapse, are not destroyed by water/weather, and are readily available in this part of the country. They even have a drain valve so if you leave them outside you can drain them before the trip to the yard. They will outlive this scrapper. I have about 30 of them filled with scrap and used oil. I have used the same totes that Patriot76 uses. Frequently I will pull out the plastic tub, place it on a pallet, and use it for lightweight material. I have also used them for shipping material.

I use the ones patriot uses. They only weigh 120lbs ea. so I can load them into my pickup and out empty. Yard unloads with forks also.

I asked a produce guy at Wal-Mart about a watermelon gaylord, and he said I could have them. There ate the big cardboard ones that fill up a full size pallet.

Plastic recycling companies always have them. We get $4-$5 ea for them.

If you need heavy duty check with the chicken processing plants. They use the thick plastic ones that can be forklifted and are tough enough to take the abuse of tossing in electric motors and such. These are too expensive to buy new, but they damage them from time to time and discard them.

I also use the ones like Patriot has. I get them when I order bulk farm chemicals.

Like others said, watermelon boxes are good and since it's watermelon season right now in our area they should be pretty easy to find.

if i dont buy them new, i get them from a local wire company. i prefer to buy them new though.

Just got 2 of the cardboard kind yesterday, from a clothing donation warehouse.
