    New here..Looking for some advice

Hello everyone,...I grew up in the scraping business with my father and recently he passed away and I am trying to research some industrial equipment he left behind. I want to first attempt selling this stuff on Ebay...but I am having a tough time assessing a price or value on some of this stuff. I will prob end up scrapping it and would still need to know what kind of metal I am looking at. I feel like most of it is brass / bronze...and some other large pieces I need help with. All of the equipment would be large heavy duty industrial related valves, pipe fittings and nozzles. Just need help making sure I don't scrap something worth a ton of money...I have googled most of it, but still can't figure out some of it. I can post pics on this thread if I am barking up the right tree....I am mainly interested in what a seasoned scrapper would do with this stuff. Thank you in advance for any insight.

We won't be able to help much without pics.

Do you know any of your father's buyers/associates? They might be fair with you if they had a good business relationship with your father over the years. Even if they don't want to buy it, they should be able to help you identify the big money.

Five more posts and you should be able to download pictures. That will be to your advantage.

As far as your original thread, if you do a search (upper right corner of this page) with your user name you will find the original post and the best contact on the forum for the questions you ask. I believe it is the third listing on the search.

Anyway, once you have the ten posts you should be able to private message the expert in this area which was provided in your first thread. Good luck.

Have you done any research on what numbers you can find? I google and use the sold listings to check value on ebay. Also you can use the manufacture's web site to find out info. This are things you may well be aware of but others read these threads so it may be helpful for them. Mike

If these are water type valves and fittings. Main lines are big, typically starting at 12" to 36" (even bigger). Valves are usually cast iron of this size. Feeder, branch or lateral lines feeding a commercial property, usually 6" to 2" (can be bigger) and for residential 1" to 3/4" (2" on very large lots), this is where you will find brass valves and fittings.

They are for water, I will post the nozzles this weekend while unpacking ..thanks again...I did look up the values..but so far I have not gotten any hits on ebay in 3 weeks so far..I priced it just under what I researched on it.....one of my questions is if I need to strip them down, or disassemble for a "clean" price...thanks again...

Lots of them do have other than brass in them but its the yard you are going to sell to that will answer your question in a meaningful way. Then you have to determine if its worth your time to break them down.

Either way reselling will get you a lot more money but it depends you and your time. Mike
