There a total of only 13 schools but. the storage is centralized in 7 schools. Originally around 800 computers most working Dell omniplexes. Then they added the monitors now they want hard drives wiped or destroyed, profit margin is getting smaller considering.
Wiping drives is easy, moving 800 computers a piece of cake. When they add a component to the contract, the price goes up. No need to shrink profit margins, more opportunity to add profit, provided your contract is specific in the wording. If you need help I'm just a phone call or PM away :)

yeah that deal is worth way more than scrap.......Those Dell 755's still wholesale for at least $20.......Oh well as ShenDog said if there is money in it I'm available
Wiping isn't a problem. You just need to be set up with wiping computers. For 800 machines, you'd want a couple dozen wiper machines at a minimum. I think I know where you could find some.... ;)
As Shendog pointed out data destruction is an additional service. Quite a different thing from e-waste removal. If you could talk them into paying 10.00$ per unit for a data destruction fee it might be worth doing.
Next question: Is it more cost efficient to destroy the drive or wipe it ? Labor is your biggest operating cost so you don't want to spend any more time on them than you absolutely have to. You could probably destroy 800 HDD's in a day or two with a cheap drill press.
It seems to take at least a day to do a three pass overwrite on just one 1 TB HDD. If you got into drive wiping you'd be bogged down with it forever.
If you're in mass production mode & dealing in volume the less time you spend fiddling with individual units the better.
