The slot processors fit into a slot on the motherboard just like the sticks of RAM memory do. They're long and narrow and usually say Pentium II or Pentium III on them. You'll know em' when you see em' cause they're quite different from the square processors that have all those little gold colored pins sticking out underneath.
I have a few slot processors but I have never taken them apart. I'm wondering if I break them down even further, if the actual square cpu are gold topped? I don't want to devalue them for no reason. Or devalue them at all..

A picture is worth a thousand words.

I've always broken mine down on the assumption that my buyer wouldn't want to be paying for excess plastics & a heat sink.

Your best bet would be to contact your buyer directly and ask how they want it done. They might vary on that.

It's always fun to run across one of the old gold topped ones. It's definitely not like hitting the lottery but they're worth a few dollars more than the newer ones.

I'm still hoping to run across some crazy eight core processor ......SHA-WING !

Well I went up to my favorite yard with some scrap and while there offered to buy some more computers. The owner was having a really bad day so he says "we'll just finish off the first storage spot". Went over with the truck and there was only 6 computers left. I didn't want to push him for more as He was dealing with the death of a close friend and office employee. Got 4 more of the Plexiglas side case units plus a dual core and a P4. Still haven't cracked open one of the fancy ones yet. Hoping to fire one up and see what's in there.. A couple of them had hang tags on them with writing where it looks like they were on a shelf for sale. They look to be matching inside. If they're good inside then I'll try to sell them as working units, but if not I'll still sell the cases cheap.

The ribbon cables date the computers as everything now uses sata cables but cases could be repurposed
