    People want stuff moved

This is kind of a rant iam tired of people calling me to give me rv's and double wide trailers.I try to work out a deal because I can't take them to the scrap yard with out cutting them up I have no where on my property to put them.I try to offer people a 3rd of the money I will get for the scrap if I can take them apart on their property but they say no.They want them removed iam in a no win situation. And it just makes me mad because iam losing money.

Theres allways the chance you can turn them into trailers.
A guy I know does in his spare time. Makes a few dollars while using up free time.
He has figured outa bunch of shortccuts thru experience.

Maybe you could pay them some money up front and give them a deadline on when you will be done deconstructing it on their property. If you can pay them up front and have a reasonable timeframe, they may be more willing to let you take it apart onsite. But at the end of the day, you are in business to make money, not lose it. So you might need to pass on these types of jobs.

I know you wanted this to come off as a rant but heck, I wish you were near me as I'm always in the market for an RV.

The way the scrap market is now. Are you really losing money? Even when prices are up, I couldn't imagine a double wide trailer is a huge money maker, for the amount of time you spend. The RV's I don't know. Lots of resale parts I would think. I wouldn't get to mad, man.

RV appliances can and often do have a resale value. And a lot of the newish ones are mostly wood and vinyl.

My primary is junk cars so I get those calls ALL the time.
WAY too much non metal for me to be able to make any money
I tell them to shoot a couple photos and put it on Craigs list in the FREE section
Even with the low prices there are people that will beat a path to their door to get the FREE RV
    More power to them

I did a few old campers and motorhomes some time back. The money made on the scrap pretty much paid the disposal bill for the all the other crap. Camper frames make decent little trailers, but now I just dont bother with them. To time intensive for too little return for me

    I'll do trailers or rvs.
Prices are between $1000-$5000. The owner would owe me! Never take them for free. My time is worth more than $3/hour

Exactly what I was going to say. I charge $3000 for a trailer... Double wide double that! I will do nothing for scrap anymore.

As a matter of fact I had a call to do a cleanup that had a bunch of scrap onsite. They built a home around a mobile home. She says her son was taking care of it but scrap prices were so bad he quit.....can anyone guess what she had in mind? Lol
Yep, wanted me to haul away three box truck loads of trash for scrap and beer money....job was two hours away. Nope. Your time and labor is valuable. Don't sell yourself short... Charge for these services friend
Determine never to be idle. No person will have occasion to complain of the want of time who never loses any. It is wonderful how much may be done if we are always doing.

In many cases, the people calling to have these things removed have been given notice by their local municipality to remove them by a certain date or face fines.
Lets say it's a 30 day notice. They'll call you when 29 days is up, and they expect you to get it done ASAP to save their rears.

Hence, they wouldn't be able to give you time to do a tear down.

Only way Id do that is if I could find someone else that wanted them for making trailers, the beams, what ever... let them HAVE them, they move... you charge the owner for pick up.
