    Call to sell a Winnebago

Just hung up and all I can do is shake my head. Lady called wanting to sell a "car". Asked her where she is and she's from a town 30 miles away (1st red flag). What have you got? Winnebago (Leaf?). (2nd red flag - it'd need to be towed here). She says it's completely gutted. How much do you want for it? $1,000. That's what she paid for it so that's what she wants back out of it. But she needs to get the "monstrosity" out of her driveway.

I offered her $250. She's going to put it back on Craig's List.

People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.

Ha! That's funny. Gutted and in need of a tow, only $1000.00, and you are getting a deal! Ha!

The worst is how much people want for their auto parts. I can buy a running car for 600$, a non-runner for 100, and you want 300$ for those darn suspension arms off your DEAD, rusted, 20-yr old POS? You gotta be kidding, people thinking they can part out a car for more than they would sell it for whole.
    It's ridiculous.

Yea the market here has gone to crap too... i have gotten a whopping two phone calls in the last week and a half, out of TWO ads in two different papers, one that covers most of this county and one that covers most of the neighboring county. One call led to a very good buy, but this is horrible. We've been doing 2-3 cars on the weekend and 3-5 throughout the week. Last week we had one car (But moved 18,000 lbs of batteries to make up for it). This week we've had one mini van but that's it. Its horrible. Trying to figure out what to do different. I know stuff's out there. Guy called earlier with a 93 Lincoln. I offered him $300 he said he had an offer for more than that and was just getting a price quote. Hey go for it, let them work for free, I don't! I think $300 for a junk car is a real sweet offer but that's just me. I'm counting on it being heavy, 4 aluminum rims and 3-4 catalytic converters. I've done a bunch of those cars and I know what to expect. I can make money at $300 but I'm not gonna work for free or for next to nothing. I just don't have the desire to do so.

I love the way you think. That is the attitude it takes and many here obviously have that attitude.

Sometimes, we get lucky and hit a gold mine. On the other hand, sometimes we just gotta roll with the punches.

Are you saying each car has 3 to 4 cats? If so, I've learned something new.

My kid is a mechanic (likes the tuners mostly)and will scrap his trash, according to him multiple cats are common.

Alot of 80's Ford V8 cars have 4. A cat and a pre cat on each side. The precats are not worth much, but they are worth cutting off.

Don't think I've ever seen a car with 3 though.

Thinking back I used to own a Sable with the 3.8 engine and it had two small cats in the downpipes and a larger one in the main pipe.
