The Freon is recovered by the person replacing the central unit (not sure if it is a person from an ac company or the maintenance man), so I do not have to worry about that. All I have to worry about recovering is the compressor oil after I cut the copper tubing off the compressor.
That being said I have about 25 window units that are waiting for me to get my license and get a recovery machine. All stacked nice and neat in my barn. I will NOT cut the lines and release the
refrigerant into the air. With my full time job and other activities, just having trouble finding time to do the reading, take the test and get a machine. Oh well, they are not going anywhere, and if I retire in two years like I am planning, it will give me something to do (get certified, then recover and break down). Hopefully commodities will have at least recovered some by then.
