My stile of acquiring recyclable inventory has a Knee jerk reaction
getting $14 for 500 pounds is the reality - But it does not mean when driving
and you see a pile , the response is - oh yeah SCORE!!!
but then reality sets in and often I keep driving
BUT this load i figured get it ask questions later

At face Value three 10 foot long structural steel felt like 175# each
buckets of bolts for engine heads the person who had them fixed fords from 1930's up
short steel miscellaneous but parts from 1930 fords
and alternator's from 1930's fords
Pistons are from ???
How could I market these items ?
To buy the bolts that hold heads down are costly
but how would I match up product to owner or should I just - just Scrap it ?

The 10 foot long structural steel would make nice bumpers
and other use or should I just - just Scrap it ?

Once loaded the truck felt like it had 1200 #

I'm still at it
So since prices are so low the temptation to just get $150 plus is gone
do I have any Jewels here ??

Cause this load as is - I figure $50 depending on disassembling

Not sure if your collection has any value Copperhead, in the past I have sold bolts from vintage IH dozers, tractors and farm implements use a bolt with a raised dot in the centre of the head.

People who restore older IH need this style of bolt for authenticity.

You can try a swap meet. If you can get a table for cheap, round up all the old car parts you can. You never know what people need....

Copperhead I see a fair bit of Ford flat head stuff in that pile, The connecting rods will have forging numbers, from these you should be able to identify what you have.

Lots of interest in those old ford V-8's so you should be able to market most if not everything.

A few of the starters in the pile look like 352 and 390.

To do a quick test on a generator put 12 positive volts to the armature terminal with a ground to the case if the generator motors ( become a motor ) it will generate power to charge a battery, This procedure will also polarize the generator replacing the residual magnesium which can be lost with age or rough handling - excessive bumping or knocking about ie: dropping..

Opps forgot those early generators will be 6 volts, be sure to check and use the proper voltage for testing

The majority of pistons in your pile look to be over square, meaning they came from later model engines having a bore greater than the stroke. The older engines were under square having a longer stroke over piston bore.

C7AE-B 390/428 rods.

C7TE-A 352/360 rods.

From your pictures, you should have much more than scrap value. As already mentioned, there is a lot of early Ford and Ford flathead parts there. You can ID most of the FoMoCo parts by the casting number on the part and then Google it. Most Ford and Merc parts made after 1940 use the same numbering system that they still use, so that, after you learn to decode the numbers, you can pick up any old part and tell what year and model that it was used on. Also, many of the original bolts used by Ford in the 1950's and 60's will have the letter F stamped in the center of the head.

Is it really more then scrap value if you don't know how or who to resell it to?

I'd suggest a search on here for various places people to use to sell besides the obvious ones like Ebay and Amazon.

Car forums, Swap meet/flea market, etc.

Or use the tried an trues..Ebay, Amazon, etc.

You could also seek out car clubs in your area since this in regards to car parts an stuff..they could turn you on to other avenues i'm sure. If your area does local car clubs(older, newer, whatever) they also can help you find buyers.

There is more to life then just eBay. People bought an sold for thousands of years without the internet..an still do today!

Nobody will buy your stuff tho if they don't know you have it, so get the word out, do some research on pricing based on prior sales, etc. Hopefully it'll be more then scrap value.

Or go the easy route an take it to the yard.

Good luck with the sales! One would think be plenty of folks interested in old parts.

The items came from a car guy
who's father was a car guy that worked on flat head fords.

Back it up a year plus more
the weight would be calling me
tempting me
and off to the yard it'd go
I suspect considering the value of $50 (scrap )
should not be hard to exceed but it will take some work

The son hinted to me he said I just don't have the time But I know all these bolts
to buy are over $2500

I still think there is some FE stuff in the parts pile.
